Toyota Tacoma | Midland MXT 275 Antenna Re-Route | (2017 Tacoma)

After my install video on the MXT 275, I received a decent amount of negative feed back on the route I chose for the antenna cable. So after thinking it through and realizing I was also not very pleased with the path of the cable, it was re routed. The new path takes the cable under the the passenger side carpet through the AC drain hose grommet. It makes for a clean, easy install with no drilling through the fire wall into the engine bay. Running it through the same grommet as the AC drain hose does not effect the drain hose.

my ocd is causing me great pain just knowing that your antenna wire is not looped and zip tied properly....that wire will quietly mock you forever until you fix it.

You do not want to loop and ziptie antenna wires. It ruins the distance, quality of transmission, and frequency. But I'm with you, I ziptie all my wires, you just dont do it with antenna wire

The only thing i would do is an add on is to zip tie the slack and tuck it high. The passenger side is the most unused side for running cables into the engine bay.

as long as you're not bunching up the wires and zip tying it than it wont be an issue for signal, but if I were OP, I'd keep it the way it is. I love zipties but in this situation you do not want to kink the wires or roll them up.

You don't need to worry about running coax with all the other electrical wires everything is low voltage under 12 volts.

The ditch lights are on ditch light mounts. The Antenna mount I made from a piece of cold roll. The antenna itself is a Midland Ghost NMO mount. Thanks for watching.

@@vernon207 I see. It really could be many things. I would start with the mount on the antenna and make sure it has a good ground. Also check to make sure the cord is tightly screwed onto the radio. Then look for any chaffed wires on the line. Also make sure the antenna wire is going through the grommet not just up against the metal.
