Why did I remove the factory 10mm bolts out of the rail when that hole is not used for anything?! Plus my short M8 doesn't fit thru the bracket hole .. is this typical?

I want this roof rack for my access cab …I know I’m being irrational but the act of drilling holes in my roof is terrifying lol. That’s the only thing holding me up from doing this

I got a packet of 1/4” locking washers and regular flat washers. Not sure where to use either one
