Great video Blockhead. This was a very detailed video. Love your rig as well.

Use a 3/4" punch, no drilling. Cleaner install.

Where did you get the Tacoma black strips with the things sticking out
@Folded92 Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the vid! Try a hole saw bit for the spacers, it might give you a cleaner cut. Also hows the highway noise on these racks? I really want one but not sure i could deal with excessive noise

I know this video is from a few years ago, but i’m also doing a 3 inch lift. What are the wheel and tire size and offset?

I know you've got skill, but I cringed at 7:22 cutting towards your hand! Great job on the install. I'm installing my Cali Raised cab rack this weekend. Truck looks great.

Great vid!! A much easier and cleaner method for the holes in the weather strip is to use a 3/4” tapered punch...
@jdp12193 жыл бұрын
Do you have a link to what kind of punch and where it coule be purchased.

At 7:25 I freaked out that your knife was going straight to your other hand or fingers! Be careful always cut away from you not towards you. Unfortunately I know from experience. Tacoma looks awesome!!
@BlockheadMoto5 жыл бұрын
True that, good lookin out! The leverage to get through that stuff was better towards me in that instance but should have flipped it, haha. Thanks Jerry!

Great video Blockhead, but those flat oblong nuts should be installed with the raised edge in the hole. They're made that way to hold them centered in the hole. I used similar ones for many years as a welder and they're called weld nuts used for threading thin walled tubing.

Nice, thanks for the info! I was wondering what they were called, never seen them before. Now I know for next time!

Great video Block. Use the "drag" settings on your drill to minimize the risk of A) stripping the screws and B) it almost acts like an impact but won't let you over tighten. Tight Taco

I’m a plumber you should’ve used a whole saw on the weather stripping it would’ve given you a nice clean holes Paddle bits you used make a mess just giving you a heads up
@BlockheadMoto5 жыл бұрын
This is true! I did have a hole saw end, but it was too large. I'll make the trip to home depot for next time, the paddle bits were terrible, haha
@jdp12193 жыл бұрын
Would the hole saw cut through the metal also or does that have to be done separately?

Hey Block Head I have a question. I purchased one of these for my Taco and the one thing that bugs me is the weather stripping. I see people installing these without the stripping. Do you regret cutting holes in the stripping or is that what you would do again? I don't think Toyota puts it back on with factory racks but what the hell do I know. You would think someone would make these or Prinsu would offer them. One other thing. Did you have your factory steels powder coated? Are those 16's or 17"s. They look damn good.

@m0rbidr00ster65 жыл бұрын
Lucas Hahn tacos have a composite bed. Its not a liner. I have a bed mat in mine.
@BlockheadMoto5 жыл бұрын
+1 on what M0rbid R00ster said, the bed is a composite and there's no metal underneath that. Suppose they're doing that now to save on weight and cost? Not sure, but it works!
