No Haynes Manual for this 3rd generation UK model. I had to pay to view the repair manual at toyota-tech.eu to get the correct torque values.
I decided to buy the Toyota brake pad kit 04465-YZZDS as the car is still in warranty. Its probably a £100 plus job at the dealers so well worth doing it to save some cash.
Slide Pins - TMMF type caliper (as shown in this video) - 28Nm torque.
Slide Pins - TMC type caliper - 34 Nm torque.
Wheel Nuts - 103 Nm torque.

Thank you very much! You seem to be one of the few with a French produced Yaris on YT. Those anti-rattle thingys were a pain in the as and even though I replaced both disk and pads I had to use the old ones because the new I bought were just impossible...

Hi great vid. Did you put any lubrication on the slide pins

Dean Beresford Thanks. I didn't add lubrication to the slide pins but I also didn't degrease them. I've just read the Toyota manual and it tells you to apply 'lithium soap based glycol grease' to the slide pins.

Use Dielectric synthetic grease or the heat gunks up regular grease. otherwise thanks for the video. if those pins don't slide easily it causes many problems.

@@ronwest7930 I just had one of mine seize and cause very uneven wear of the pads. I changed the slide pins and the rubber guides and was very puzzled to find they appear to be 'glued in' with some sort of hard white substance! This was quite a chore to remove - turns out this is the 'lithium soap based glycol grease' they specify!! I shall be using red rubber grease when replacing them...

@@richardking6066 I don't know what grease your talking about. But my comment above shows what I researched and came up with.

@@ronwest7930 It was the original (factory) grease that dried out, hardened and caused the problem. I used a kit D7003C which comes complete with some rubber grease...

Thanks for the video. You made the spring fitting look so easy. I spent an hour fiddling with pliers, Mole grips and string. Eventually manged fitting by hooking the top end, as you suggested, pushed the spring into position and rotated the hub until a wheel stud was in close proximity; then used a long screwdrive to lift/lever the bottom hook to align with the hole and with my other hand and small hammer gently tapped the hook end into the hole.

Great video! Do you know if replacing the lower control arms for a 1.33 mk3 yaris requires something difficult like lowering the engine? Or is it a simple job and is sufficient to unscrew the bolts? Thank you very much

Any tips for reattaching the anti rattle clip? I really struggled with putting them back on. In the video it looks as if you have pushed back on the clip and then squeezed the clip together at the bottom as to position it over the hole.

Connor Hobson. They can be difficult to get back in. I found the best way is to insert the spring in the top hole first. Then using your right thumb as an axis point in the middle of the spring, bend one half of the spring downwards with your left hand to shorten the spring length enough to get the other end of the spring into the bottom hole. In reality it did take a few attempts, not like in the video.

Is torque essential or can a normal ratchet be used?

It’s always good practice to use a torque wrench, especially on critical parts in a brake assembly. When I first worked on cars 30 years ago we didn’t have one and never had any issues. I have worked in the aircraft industry and everything has a torque value to ensure a high safety standard. My first thoughts are that your wife, daughter, son, relatives etc... could use the car so it needs to be 100% safe.
