I dont know what this video is on about...i own this car, 5 door with the 1.3L engine and man thats a little poky engine! I mean, you really dont expect the punch that it delivers for the power it has, its really good..the gearbox is an absolute joy! Its notchy in a good "mazda mx5" way, the chassi feels super planted and playfull, brakes are good, engine sounds amazing, and it IS quiet! I drive this car on fast german autobahns everyday (160kmh+) and it is not loud at all! Even at 180/190kmh it is still quiet enough that i dont feel i need to raise the radios volume..and by the way radio: what speakers do toyota put in this thing?! It sounds AMAZING! Its an awesome car and YES a lot of fun to drive! I would buy it over and over again..love it

I have a 2014 model automatic Yaris hybrid, it's also my first car. As a new driver I find it super easy to drive and just the right size for me. I also like the bluetooth syncing with my phone for music and automatic wipers and headlights. Although the Honda Civic-R is my goal one day.

I always hear European reviewers criticising the “Quality” of Toyota plastics. I live in Australia and very few plastic car interiors handle the extreme heat over many years the way Toyota’s do, so I would suggest using another word other than “Quality” if you want to describe what you dislike about the plastic.

I don't see the reason you rated the yaris that much lower than its competitors. It might not be fun to drive or quiet, but it is bigger, more reliable and better value than many of its rivals while the efficiency seem to be equal to them. You must take into consideration all the aspects of a car.

+Firemarioflower Yoy are wrong if you think that I prefer the yaris over its rivals. However researches shows that toyota is still one of the most reliable car makers and for many people that is the most important thing. If you don't believe me go check the autoexpress galop that runs now.

i just dont understand why car infotainment systems are soo freaking slow ??? i mean its 2016 ffs.. a good mediatek SoC would run a 1080p ((we all know those are not 1080p screens they are not even 720p...)) screen at 30/60fps constant and it costs like 3~25$ MAX .... car manufacturers are idiots when it comes to tech .... get an-android tab with 480p/720p screen make an-app/launcher for the cars system and call it a day god knows those things cost like 10~30$ for the whole thing >>

+KingStivan Reason for car infotainments lacking features and slow regardless of brand is because they are looked down upon. Infotainment divisions in companies never get too big of a budget. Companies are more focused on and invested in driving characteristics, safety concerns, structural issues, making car suitable for both usa and european markets etc. You can also check this article for things i didn't mention above www.digitaltrends.com/android/why-car-infotainment-systems-lag-behind-smartphones/ My personal opinion is just get rid of the infotainment and put some proper buttons and switches on the car. Touchscreen is a safety hazard because it requires you looking at where your finger is while you can feel a button and dont have to look at it. Everybody has their phones and tablets. Sattelite navigation is the only screen a car should have.

There is nothing “happy” about waiting in a queue to speak to a Ford service manager about the latest faults that they haven’t fixed. Toyota’s only need petrol and a service/mot once a year. Happy days.

It's a favourite for older people? Wonder how they get heavy shopping bags into the boot, it seems to be very impractical to load. Btw you should really test practicality for a car like this, it's much more important than wind noise at high speed or a fancy dashboard!!

I heard people are complaining about the cluth... but isn't all the yaris from 2006 to present.. using a cable cluth instead of a hydrolic clutch?? I know that the cable cluth has a more black and white engament with barley any grey zone for engament, but it's more reliable and long lasting for the clutch!! BUT Which version of the Yaris did she prefer????

Looks small but is quite roomy inside, owned a 2012 VW polo and that felt quite small inside, but the Yaris has good adequate space. I purchase this based on that I wanted the reliability factor more than anything else. MY VW polo was a bit of a disappointment cause it only did near 62,000 and needed a big repair cost which I thought no chance.

Hahahah, finally someone agree'ing. The AGila 2000-2007 (same as Corsa) has very nimble engine, and sound insulation is low but you know exactly by sound when to go to higher gear or when you are to low, or when you didnt put it far enough, i then insta reflex to neutral and put it back again to fix. I had someone in Huydai I20 with heavy sound insulation and she couldnt hear she was in to low gearbox 50% of time, i just know by looking at dashboard, seeing number and putting my ear on dashboard, then i heard the motor protesting. One reason i don't like the Corsa E (2015), the Corsa D still has adequate balance (more silent then Agila)) but still audible for mistakes and clutching, btw Opel has the best petrol noise imo, so hearing it is nice rather then silent car, i'm always worried in silent car. I would buy this yaris, if demand and supply (2010-2014 model) wasn't so terrible. For some reason there's not much on market and if they come, they charge 3000-7000€ to much (compared to Corsa D for example).

The Yaris is a good car, it is economical, low running costs. However, the manual gearbox is annoying. If you drive on a highway which is not entirely flat, some hills, you constantly have to downshift to either 5th or 4th gear when in 6th gear at around 80-90 km/h,. The engine does not have enough power!!! You can drive on cruise control for like a minute or two before you have to downshift! If I get another Yaris, it will be "automatic", E-CVT.

One of those cars that looks good only if you have the topspec one with fog lights, painted mirrors, alloys and spoiler. Makes it far more expensive that the base model listed in the brochure. Dashboard layout is a bit nasty too. I mean it's not bad, but neither is it a very attractive dashboard... I don't care so much for how hard of soft the plastics are, but it has to look good!

I got a ford focus and want to get rid of it for a Toyota corolla or yaris. the Ford has nice styling and drives good, but it is cheaply and poorly built with poor mechanical reliability, I have already replaced the steering rack and now the heater core has failed and the car only has 70,000 kilometers on it. the engines are not made to last as they are designed by Yamaha and ford. I have driven a yaris and I believe they will last a longtime without too many issues

You've managed to make the review of a fairly boring car into a truly exciting event, now that's talent. The opening sequence saw you making some very hard and beautifully presented points. Thank you for the wonderful, uncensored, treat!!! I can honestly say you've taken Jennifer Aniston to school in getting your points across, not something to be taken lightly. OK, I'm sorry (truly I am) but I couldn't resist as I've not completely lost my man card (yet) and this was written tongue firmly in cheek. Please keep producing the well researched and presented vids and I'll continue to watch for sure. But know I'll never look at a Yaris in quite the same way ever again pretty lady!!!! Cheers.

Modern Toyotas have completely lost their fun factor, yes they are amazing all rounders with second to none reliability and ease of driving, however going from a 2013 auris that I drove the other day back to my personal car a MK1 Yaris t sport. The auris provides no feedback through the wheel due to the fact that the steering is electronically assisted and far to light plus the brakes are way to sharp and the fly by wire accelerator pedal is so disconnected a carrier pigeon would be quicker and have less delay. I have honestly never felt so out of control in my life. Other than that though don't get me wrong new Toyotas are solid cars and won't let you down. My advice is buy a Yaris t sport or a vitz rs turbo if you can get your hands on one😂😂

The Second Gen may look dull but trust me... the engines are a lot better especially the older 4 cyl 1.0 and 1.3 which have now been replaced by a 3 cyl 1.0 and a 1.33 start stop... i have a 2008 1.3 TR model with 118bhp and 0-60 in just over 9 seconds... none of the 3rd gen even come close to that... Toyota need to face facts that with a small engine range and cheap interior and exterior parts they are losing customers... Renault offer a 2.0 in the Clio, Audi offer a 2.0 in the A1 and most others do a 1.8 petrol and 1.9 diesel... not a 1.4 diesel which isnt the most reliable either... more engines and less grey plastic is needed on the 4th gen or Toyota will lose their market share in the biggest UK car sector

I had a mk 3 2012 model 'same car without 2016 facelift' hated the one wiper system. Left a big unwiped area on passenger side. Tinny as sh*te. Thick pillers obstruct night vision and CVT model screamed at you when you needed power. Also people will notice this now that I have brought it up-the brakes are noisy. there make a drown and the dealer couldn't fix it. I drove a courtesy car and that had the same problem. I hope there have fixed it on facelift model. The Yaris is made in France !, I changed it for a SKODA Rapid. Best car I;ve had.

+Bruce Lee Thats odd, I'm 187 and didn't experience that a year ago when I test drove one of these. Are you sure you put the seat in the lowest position? (It adjusts in height as well)

Very disappointed in Toyota cars lately. Can't believe the previous model yaris is better than this new model. The older one is quieter, has better quality interior plastics and overall feels better built and more solid. The first time I closed a door on this new model it sounded soooooooooooo tinny... I swear I had broken it!
