I appreciate your videos and look forward to them. I bought my 92 Toyota pickup new, 33 years ago this month. Have over 430,200 mi. The first engine went at 326K and change; head gasket. I'm on the third clutch, second motor, and I've always treated it with respect. I have never missed an oil change. Every 3,000 miles she is in the shop. I love my truck. There is a waiting list of about 20 guys who want to buy it

My mother never changed the oil in a 1981 Toyota Celica GT that got passed down in my family. My grandfather did the maintenance at the dealer on time from the day he bought until he gave it to my mother at approximately 36k miles. We drove it to NYC where it performed flawlessly in the snow and when we moved back to Texas some years later, it performed flawlessly in the intense heat of our summers. I bought the car from her at about 200k miles when I turned 16yo. I asked her when was the last time she changed the oil and she stated “That’s just something rich people do”. The car still got me though HS and most of college when I totaled it driving way too fast one day.

When the top tank turns brown like that the plastic is weak, if you look close it will have fine cracks in the plastic, it will not leak but will blow out on the highway, time for a new radiator.

The correct word is neglect. They lucked out with the oil and coolant. Those were the days when Toyota made every part as good as they possibly could without worrying what the part cost to manufacture.

I had this happen to my son's 2012 Yaris. At the same time I replaced the radiator. I cut the tanks off the old radiator to look for the missing parts because the antifreeze flows from top of engine, drivers side to top of the radiator. The only part I found was the spring. Never found the relief valve on the end of cap. No way it passed to the bottom of the radiator and out to the Thermostat. So IDK where it went. It's been months and no problems so far...Also I bought a new cap for my 2011 Camry.

Would an endoscope help to find the brown part(s)? There are non medical ones available now that might help with the fishing expedition.

Sending this vehicle back into service without retrieving the parts that you KNOW are inside the engine is both negligent and unethical.
@condor56356 күн бұрын
Ridiculous. First if all that part is large enough where it is essentially stuck in the top of the radiator due to the design. You try your best to get it out otherwise tell the lady and be done with it.

@@condor5635 You have no idea what you are talking about. The spring and check valve that is now somewhere in the cooling system has the potential to cause a catastrophic overheating failure. He didn't even TRY to get it out by, at least removing the radiator. This customer will experience intermittent overheating until the engine eventually dies. Petr was a good mechanic at one time, but this is gross incompetence, or worse ...When this engine blows a head gasket in some remote part of Humboldt County, this owner will be, literally 'up a creek' , and have Petyr to thank.
