Certainly it is a blessing not be a purist & be able to fix your figures by yourself...So satisfying! 👍

This really made me happy while watching. I make custom figures and I 3d print the weapons and belts for these figures. I always used old tshirts for the capes. lol

That really looks nice! I'd not ever seen the figs, and if I hadn't just seen you make these, I'd have absolutely no idea they were anything but original. Great job!

What I think is a bit "sad" with Splinters cape is that his tail gets in the way. They should have done a hole in the back for his tail to poke through.

That toy knit fabric is amazing. I need to get some for my "kit" to go with my styrene sheets and rods and odd Lego bits XD

Yeah. It's my go to fabric. I have it in so many colours now as I know I will use it.

Great video from Dave, showcasing his amazing skills at making replacement capes and belts, for beloved vintage action figures. And a big shout out to Nick ( Action Pop Cast ) for his help with this project.

Ahhh… that famous purple cape! That's a great match. I have to grab some toy fleece and add the cape to my Splinter figure (why do kids get obsessed with stripping down figures???)

this would definitely come in handy, especially for the bootleg of movie star Splinter I've seen on Ebay (it's in a lot with the four movie star TMNTs and the movie star Foot Soldier) since it lacks his robe. all that needs to be done is to switch the material color to a white color for movie Splinter's robe

Is there a difference between the movie & toyline Splinter robe pattern? Although I did see someone use a vintage Splinter cape for that bootleg once & it looked pretty good in it.

Enjoyed watching this again. I love seeing vintage TMNT restorations. So many you find are missing accessories and such. I did this same thing to my vintage Spinter and used elastic like you used for his belt and the 4 brothers I had with them missing. I have one of the reproductions I was able to get the pattern from. Weapons are my next challenge.

excellent video once again. It's always great getting these sorts of helpful patterns and such from you, Dave! Btw, the thing about Splinter's cape is that on the original, it's not actually made of toy knit. It's just regular cotton fabric, almost like a t-shirt
@toypolloi

Thanks. I know this material is not the same as the original. But it's close enough and very easy to work with.

Brilliant! Makes Splinter look so much better. Custom tunic for Shredder next (to make him look more like the cartoon)?

I saw someone on KZbin called “Bert the Stormtrooper” make one to make a custom toon Shredder using Splinter’s cape as reference, so maybe this pattern could conveniently help?

I have a couple shredders. I am thinking about Painting one & making My own toon shredder. I think Toon shredder had a different color cape too. I see a stress mark too in his arrow. I use a hair dryer now & set it on high to use on plastic like that.

I think a torch or heat gun is supposed to be able to remove stress lines in plastic.

Great tip, but it doesn't work on all plastics, so you have to be very careful, if you try it.

Nicely done ✔️ On the topic of capes, I always thought a custom mumra cape would be a good project. The figure just doesn't look right without one IMO.

Dave, I have watched several Toy Polloi videos and could not find an answer to my specific question, so I thought I'd leave a comment / question on your latest video to ask for help. Do you have any suggestions for the best way to remove glue from a Star Wars figure without damaging the figure? I do not know what kind of glue was used (I got the figures as part of a lot) but the glue is a sickly looking caramel / brown color and didn't come off after soaking the figures in soapy water. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Drop me a DM with photos and I'll see what I can suggest. It may just be rotten old elastic bands. I've covered that before.
