Awesome, Adrian. I remember in my very first job as a 15-year-old at a high-end audio store, they had a Sota turntable it was a thing of beauty. I lusted after it as well. I remember it playing Steely Dan's Gaucho, and it sounded magnificent. The speakers in that rig were Yamaha NS1000 it used the top of the range Yamaha component as well. I'm talking maybe 1986 87 here, ahhh, the memories come flooding back now as I think about this system. I love this series, Adrian.👍🙂🎧

NS1000! Always wanted a pair

I bought a SOTA in the mid-80s. I still use and love it to this day. I use a MC Dynavector, and none of my digital sources can match this sound.

I always wanted one as well. I recently bought one used that needed a little bit of work and fixed it up and put a nice Sumiko tonearm on it. But I ended up giving it to my daughter because she has a very lively floor and foot falls make her records skip. Not anymore! One of the things that a SOTA does exceptionally well is isolation from foot falls. You can literally dance in front of it and the record won't skip. Can't quite do that with my VPI Scout.

A nice blast from the past. Does vinyl ever get played at Audio Excellence?
@adrianlow2114Ай бұрын
Yes, but not as often as perhaps we should. Most of my LPs are still packed away from the last time we moved. I'll have to figure out some place where we can store them for access

Does it really make sense to scrape a sharp needle through the grooves of a soft material like vinyl? Of course not! Believing in vinyl as an audiophile is like religion.

Perhaps you've never heard a great audiophile record on a high quality turntable tone arm and cartridge setup. Mine sounds every bit as good as my high end DAC compared against the same mastered recordings on SACD.
