Before retiring from Cowboy Action Shooting 4 years ago I absolutely loved the 20-inch Tula TOZ-66 that I used during the last 18 of my 20 active years in the sport. I had the as-issued MOD and IC bore constrictions professionally reamed out to open both barrels to CYL bore, and polished the chambers myself, enabling fired hulls to drop free when the muzzles were pointed skyward. The Greener crossbolt lockup contributed to keeping the fit of barrels to breechblock snug and secure and solid.

The Russian Tula manufactured , double barrel 12 guage shotguns, were well made. They were excellent shooters, with nice accurate shot patterns. They come in 12 , 16, & I believe 20 guage. A well made double barrel shotgun, with old time outside hammers or rabbit ears. Kevin Phoenix

Nice shotty btw,I like the nickel plating. The misfires could be the firing pin,or depending on the condition of the firing pin, some shotgun primers can be very hard and need a more powerful strike, try the misfires in the other barrel as they were all on the right hand barrel.

I have a similar gun. Use it for fun. Excellent quality. but the hammers are heavy to cock. When I got it at first it would misfire on the left barrel, noticed the hammer was not striking firing pin squarely, just installed a suitable sized washer to bring the hammer out and strike the firing pin properly. BTW Mine is blued.

The 20 inch barrels were used in the bars and shops. The guys on the coaches would have used a 26 inch barrel because you get more range in the open area. Coach Gun is more of a modern term anyway

The terms "cut-down shotgun" or "messenger's gun" were coined in the 1860s when Wells Fargo & Co. assigned shotgun messengers to guard its shipments on stagecoaches in California. Those shot guns were usually between 18-24 inches

При стрельбе ждешь выстрела и из за этого сильно дергаешь спусковой крючок, ружье уходит. Это видно, когда происходит осечка. Может на дробовике это и не критично, но на нарезном оружии точность значительно упадет.

Also beat 95% of KZbin gunners by shooting decent range. Good safety which isn't stressed enough.

I shoot Western Action,I've got 3 Coach guns.2 are Eibars and the new one is a single trigger Russian Baikal, cut down from a full size to 22 inches and slicked a fair bit.The flinching is just in anticipation of the recoil, only practice can stop it.I can shoot and reload them fairly quick but if I'm too gentle with the trigger on the Baikal it fires both barrels, not good for the shoulder and causing reloads on multiple targets, very annoying.Bad Mack

I mostly flinch with, the Toz and my 4" .44mag. The rest I'm generally fine with. I used to flinch with my BP rifles, not anymore. The Toz bloody hurts but its so much fun.

The flinch is painfully familiar, I have a russian coach gun too and I missed 3 deer with it the first hunting season due to a mix of flinching and the gun shooting really high with slugs like yours, it's crazy that my mosin nagant doesn't make me flinch while they're notorious for recoiling bad a 12ga kicks way worse. Overall IMO fun guns at the range and good for self-defense, but not reliable for hunting. Cool video I enjoyed 👍
