I have a macbook pro with C type ports, the issue that I’m facing with my current hub is that it automatically disconnects my hard disks causing them to crash. I wanted to know if I buy an additional type c cable that connects directly with this hub would it solve the issue?

Yes, as the port being 2.0 will not be able to allow more bandwidth than it has. You will need to connect to a 3.0 port for best performance.

We can connect harddrives but not too many as the bandwidth needs to be shared between them the overall speed would go down. One external harddrive with a keyboard ,mouse , external microphone and other smaller devices such as memory card readers all work together without a problem.

Hi, have you traied longer USB 3,0 cable? Like 3 m long insted of usb extension cable. I wonder if that would work or if there will be the same issue like with extension cable.

I use a 3 metre USB extender to connect my camera to my PC via the hub, it works, but you will not get full bandwidth. For low power devices it's OK to use a long cable. Direct cables I haven't tried any device, which device has a 3 metre cable? 😲🤔 Only device that has a long cable at my place is the USB cable from the HTC Vive hub to the PC, so maybe you have something like that.

@@TalkingstuffNet I meant insted od useing USB extension cable to extend the 1 meter long USB 3.0 cable included in package, use direct 3 meters long USB 3.0 cable to connect the USB hub to PC. My backside usb ports of pc does not detect even a pendrive but it detects usb mouse and keyboard. TWO DAYS I AM USING.. FIRST DAY WORKS FINE. INBETWEEN WORKING HARD DISK ALL EJECTED. (CONNECTED 4 EXT HARD DISK) after i change the usb port and again worked. second day again one issue in one hard disk some folders empty.. for that i restart the system again its showing.. so how can judge.. my device working properly.. ? ordered from amazon Rs.1899/- what shall i do ? can i return it.. or any other brand beyond this.. please suggest,

Don't use too many hdd's at the same time. It won't be able to supply enough power, unless the external drives are self powered. Using one at a time works perfectly. Usage with one drive and USB peripherals is OK.

Great review, I'm considering purchasing one of these for my laptop docking solution consisting of an ASUS Zen Screen, keyboard and mouse. i'm currently using an old IT works 4 port USB expansion hub but it's followed me for decades and is USB Gen 1.0 ... Not exactly great for plugging in external drives and pulling media from GoPros and Drones, I'll give the TP Link a go!

I'm using an external USB 3.0 port. If you use an extension cable the speeds go down if copying off memory cards and hdd's. I don't know how you would connect the extension cable directly on the motherboard.

The external adapter will make sure none of your devices starve for power. The keyboard ,mouse and joystick will work, but the external drive will pull a lot and there's a limit to how much power we get from the USB port.

You can use this to connect your MIDI keyboard to your laptop. But are you connecting anything else? Does your laptop have a USB-A port?

Hmm, didn't try that yet. But why would you need more than one high capacity drive. Most high capacity drives are externally powered, so should work fine.

The hub is connected to the same power outlet the system is, so turns on at the same time. It has external power to allow using high power devices like external drives. As its always connected to the pc it activates immediately.

It should work as long as the hub is powered. The printer draws its power from the mains, so usb is for data only.

It does support external hard drives, but best to connect only one drive to it, others could be low power devices like keyboard, mouse etc. If you add more the power the hub pulls might not be enough.

Two hdds won't get the entire throughoutput as they're all sharing the same USB port. Keyboards, mice, mics, webcams will have no problem.

Yeah ,you'll easily get usb 2.0 speeds. This hub will also work with usb 2.0 ports but will be slower due to the lower bandwidth available.
