hope nbn could allow customers using their own ONU, just a small SFP+ onu stick direct connect to these high end routers.

well considering i have my NTD in the shed at front of house and i have a nas plus plan upgrade ring cameras to POE and attach to my synology i need a lot of ports and having to add extra hardware to expand is a pain, so i think the asus rt-ax89x (octopus) is till a great option minus the wifi 7 capabilities

Does it allow you to have a time machine backup drive ? And host a VPN?

I own this model along with the smaller model. I get about 1.8-1.9 gigs via WiFi. I haven’t had any software issues at all since the day I got my units!

As the rare person who actually uses wifi for my vr setup, I think this will definitely be worth the upgrade when wireless capable VR headsets support it, I love 6E's latency but the lil dropouts from it being so short range aren't great, so being of 6ghz and 5ghz bands at the same time would cover that tiny reliability gap that isn't fun to deal with.

I have this router and use the USB port to house certain files. Comes in pretty handy and the transfer speeds are pretty fast. The dot matrix screen hasn't caused me any issues either thankfully.

I also was able to get this on sale for $380 USD, no tax. At that price I had to try it.

Many people are complaining about the BE800 on Reddit. Are you sure it's any good?

As far as I know, the main issue is with a Samsung galaxy device that has a similar chip that’s causing issues. Something I couldn’t test

You may need to edit your video as at 3:40 you didn't display the speed figures and just left a black box where the speeds should be

DO NOT use this router if you own a Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra.... I owned one in Jan '24 & after a 4 month back and forth with the TP IT department they admitted that it has a known issue. Basically the S24 Ultra and the BE800 use the same QUALCOMM Wi-Fi 7 chipsets and due to an issue they cannot yet explain, it causes the BE800 to randomly reboot, in most cases it would need to be factory reset to get Wi-Fi to start working again, I was beta testing their firmware to see if they could patch it, but I ran out of time and patience In the end i RMA'd the device and switched to a Ubiquiti Dream Machine, which worked out cheaper than getting the BE800 at time of launch.

TP Link claim that this is resolved via BE800 Firmware Update 1.1.1 Build 20240227. Did you ever get the chance to test this firmware or had you already moved on by that stage?
@simonh5015
@simonh5015 3 ай бұрын
@@kevinoconnor6570 That firmware didn't fix it, i was on beta 20240401 before I threw my toys out of my pram and insisted on an RMA. Looking back at my notes for 20240227, the router would be stable if MLO was off and the S24 ultra wasn't on the 6ghz channel.

I used to have the same issues. Waited out now on 1.1.5 it's almost stable. Kept it because when it works the speeds are amazing.

@@ytv6770 Those fancy looking routers cost about just as much as sometimes more than Ubiquiti. On top of thathey're disposable tech that you're going to throw out in 4 years time. Check out the Ubifi Dream Router, or Unifi Gateway Ultra. Even the Unifi Dream Machine Pro which is an extremely powerful router is cheaper than the TP Link
