Hello, Looking at your usage, I think you should be considering TP-Link Deco solutions. Like, this one amzn.to/3zSthaJ Deco S7 2 or 3 packs.. Ensure CAT6 cable connection between two Deco units. One as router with your main internet and second one as access point, connected to main Deco router via CAT6 LAN cable. Looking at your usage details, I feel two should be sufficient for covering your entire house. Just place them at each far away corner or as per your need. Remember, run a CAT6 cable between two deco units. This will ensure full signal all over and seamless and auto wifi roaming of WiFi devices as you move around your home. Secondly, if you are technically sound enough to flash your router with OpenWRT and then configure them for OpenMesh, two TP-Link C6 or A6 will do the same job too.. Now depending on your preference !! Out of the box Deco S7 (2pack) is little costly over two C6 or A6 routers but they are really easy to setup and supported by 3 years warranty !! Thanks.
@shashvatjain16153 ай бұрын
Sir the version of c6 that is being sold these days does not have openwrt support because chipset have changed and flash memory and ram is reduced so basically you cant run ddwrt or openwrt on them so i would probably go for the deco solution anything else which is viable and less cheaper ??
@LazyTourer3 ай бұрын
Hello, At present, on this given date, deco solutions are the cheapest possible options which work properly. Especially the model I mentioned, as it has the option of wired backhaul. And I too have noticed, as you mentioned, in last few months, most of these lower end WiFi5 hardware & their companies have declared war against open source firmwares. They have greatly reduced the RAM & ROM size to ensure no openwrt or ddwrt compatibility. However, deco models have become cheap & giving support for wired lan backhaul. Atleast that solves one of the main need of OpenWRT. Thanks

@LazyTourer Жыл бұрын
Hi, This router supports OpenWRT firmware so if you possess the technical know how, you can get all of those support from that 3rd custom firmware in this router itself Otherwise, cheaper but bit weaker option is Mi 4a Gigabit Review here -> kzbin.info/www/bejne/r6TJkKZtaLJkmMk That one supports certain VPN client protocols. Thanks.

Do you recommend this for a gigabit connection?

TP-Link firmware has no support for this. You can't, it only support Router / AP mode However, the OpenWRT custom firmware does support this. But that will void the warranty Thanks

*Thank you* for giving information about this router ! I'm planning to buy this router, but I want to know does 2.4 GHz signal reach Ground floor if router is on 1st floor ? Did you experienced any problem with 2.4 GHz band OR any other issues with this router ? I read Amazon reviews & I'm a bit confused.
@LazyTourer2 жыл бұрын
Hi, If you watch the video, you may see, we have run detailed test of Both 5 & 2.4G bands on different test location to give you an idea as what to expect. In short, for multi storied house, in our tests, we have seen this router will cover a bubble of 800sqft for 2.4G. 2.4G is heavily effected by interference since the band is over crowed. So actual performance may vary depending on your exact location and how noisy (2.4G band) is our environment !! Thanks.

Hello, Mind you, none of these D-Link / TP-Link or XYZ makes their own router. All these companies are like HP/Dell/Lenovo. They are buying off the shelf products, like CPU/RAM/Storage/Modems etc from ARM/Broadcom/Qualcom/Intel and doing the SoC integration. Now in case of PC, we have MS Windows or Linux as standard OS but in these routers, everyone of them codes their own OS (which is technically called Firmware), which we refer as software. So this software (Referred as Firmware) indeed very important for the functioning and performance of the device. Many useful features, although present in the hardware, could be omitted by the brand in their firmware. D-Link, specially in India is really struggling with their present product line up. I would agree with you, there were times in past, when D-Link (or NetGear) was a leader in this segment but Tenda / TP-Link has out run them. At the end of the day, choice is yours. For simple WiFi need for Social Media usage, Streaming etc, any cheapest router will do this basic job. Don't get fooled by these companies saying our range is better since in WiFi usage, range depends mainly on your client device. If that has a 2dBi transmission strength, 6dBi Router is useless there since actual link will work in that 2dBi strength only. Thanks.

Version ID changes when company uses a different component for manufacturing. Like RAM or Storage Chip, if they are from a different vendor, by US or EU law they have mention. They do it by changing this Version No. Product specifications stays same. There will be no difference in actual performance as per specification. If there is performance difference, then company will change the product model No. entirely Abb apki problem sirf router ke upor nahi, device (client) ki WiFi k upor v depend karti Hain WiFi par both way kam hoti hain, toh agar device weak Hain, kitni v tagri router ho, device ke speed aur specification ke upor chalega App ki 2.4GHz Network ki, channel badlo aur 20/40mhz ki alternative kar ke dekho app agar max speed mile Vaise client device ki WiFi kya hain?
@aj0425 Жыл бұрын
You didn't mention which frequency the router is set to , like 20/40 mhz 👈
@LazyTourer Жыл бұрын
Hi, It is a WiFi 5 standard router as mentioned. Now it's a universal standard regarding that "20/40" thing Its actually called channel width. So for 2.4Ghz, it supports both 20/40 and in 5Ghz, 20/40/80. You can force any of those respective values but beware, not all, specially legacy devices may not support higher channel width. So usage of that will vary depending on your clients compatibility Thanks.

Sir, what the difference between model Archer C6 and C6u. And wired and wireles ..do we check this before buying Archer C6. Plz help and clear
@LazyTourer Жыл бұрын
Hey, Both are similar in hardware & software. C6U comes with an additional USB port to attach external storage devices & firmware has extra option to use the USB storage for NAS (Network attached Storage) capabilities. However, C6U loses out on OpenWRT support since there is no official image out yet. Performance is similar since both uses the same hardware underneath !! So you lose OpenWRT support but you get USB port for NAS storage attachment. Upto the users to decide what they want Thanks

Hello, I purchased Archer C6 AC1200 V4 router on 12 August and started using my experience till today, router taking much time to starts working as its web/internet led takes much time from orange to green. And as in between it goes green to orange too so unable to use internet as this is happening since I am using this product. In terms of Range it's top quality but I doubt something issue in router. What you think what might be the issue? Thank you.
@LazyTourer Жыл бұрын
Hello, Starting is Boot up.. Orange to Green is a different process, it happens after boot up, that is establishing Internet connection by authenticating you and obtaining the IP and such from from your ISP.. From your comment, it seems the issue is with second part. Now it can be router but it can also be an ISP issue.. The only way to be sure is to try with a different router to see if that too face this same connecting issue or not. Thanks.
