I have this router and ATT multigig. I went through nearly a dozen SFP+ modules and a 10g media converter to get my upload to match. I emailed with TP Link support for a few months over this. They finally sent me a patched 1.0.2 firmware that had flow control enabled in the omada controller and this fixed it. If you take it out of the omada management and run it stand alone, you can enable flow control and get both speeds to match your ISP with the 5310 SFP's. It was a nightmare at first, but has been running smoothly under Omada for a few months with the patched firmware.

@SPXLabs , just bought one to actually take advantage of my 10g internet connection ( Bucharest, RO ) . I kept searching for a serious router ( rack mountable ) with 10GE support, and the only things found were some mikrotik CCR , different variations , untill i found this . I also bought 2 x SFP+ TL-SM5310-T ( for the 10G to RJ45 support). Your videos really gave me a good overview of the equipment and helped me make the right decision , and I really wish to thank you for that . 👍👍👍👍 keep up the good work .

Excellent build quality! Interesting that the fans were not that loud; I wonder how it would really do under load. I wish TP-LINK would make more 2.5gb products; they would really have an opportunity here at good price offering 2.5gb switches / firewalls / routers, etc. So if you are reading this TP-LINK get to it, get us some 2.5gb switches already and not just 5 or 8 ports but 16 and 24 ports.

but this is not a switch, just look at the number of ports and their type. if you need multi gig/10gig, get a multi gig/10gig switch. this device with its 1x wan dedicated 10gb sfp+ port can do multi gig via fiber of sfp±-t module on that aspect and the 2nd combo sfp+ port can be used for your multigig needs on the lan side. either plug in directly your sfp+ fiber or sfp+-t module directly to your device or connect its down link to your core multi gig/10gig switch. you make no sense, also 2.5gig in 2023 is stupid and makes no sense. devices that only do 1/2.5gig are not going to come out, if there is nothing now then dont expect dedicated 1/2.5gig devices in the future.... who the fuk are these people

If they had put it a couple 2.5GB Lan with poe they will have a killer product, but again some one has to buy those 2.5GB switches. Not a bad price at all, looking forward to see how it performs. You have it backwards. SFP+ is standardized interface. It wont negotiate at 2.5 because the Module doesn't support this transmission mode not because of the routers interface. Any SFP+ Module will work including Short and Long Range Fiber.

I picked up one of these when they first went on sale. The GUI isn't very feature-rich and Omada isn't really my kinda thing. I was getting good 10G performance on upload and download across the WAN link but for some reason my wireless clients would get stuck at ~ 150Mb/s. I was using a TP-Link EAP670 at the time with the OC200 hardware controller. I tried it in standalone mode but had the same issue. I had a couple other minor issues as well, but aside from the wifi issue I wasn't impressed with the lack of customization for security and routing features. I see now there's a hardware version V1.60, I'm assuming mine was a V1.0 which it seems is the version customers are still getting on Amazon. I returned mine and went back to using pfsense in my lab.

I'm using TPLink's 5310 transceivers connected to an XB7 2.5g ISP Modem and getting slow speeds. Strangely enough, if I switch to Gig lan Port it works fine. The only variable is the SFP+ port as running iperf in the module shows it negotiates the right speed. Flow control is enabled, FW 1.1.0. This is driving me crazy!
@SPXLabs

What is slow speeds? That is interesting.

@@SPXLabs Seems to be half the expected speed. I can get around 300 through the wifi APs, 500 wired, when using any SFP+ adapter in Wan port 1 connected to a multi gig 2.5 port on the other side. If I just change it to Wan port 4, which is standard gigabit, I can get gigabit speeds over the network. I've created a support ticket with TPlink, there are other people with the same problem.

Hey @@SPXLabs . Just to let you guys know. Yesterday I had a remote sessions with someone from TPLink. And... news aren't that good. Apparently, according to the support guy I spoke to, this is not compatible. I couldn't really understand the reason, it made no sense to me, but it seems that because the router can understand only 1 or 10g at the optical side, whatever different speed you negotiate at the other side will drop packets. But again, that's what I got from the chat, I could be wrong. I've explained that the use case is exactly the reason why these modules were designed for - to connect SFP+ ports to RJ45 in other speeds but no dice. He promised to take this back to R&D to check, but I honestly don't know what to say at this point. I'd suggest everyone with the same issue opens a ticket so hopefully they can see reason. It made no sense to me why this won't work. It's almost like saying the SFP+ ports are only to be used optical to optical. Then, why would the sell transceivers?
