the speed reported at the PC is MegaByte/s instead of Mega Bits/sec.. that's why 1 Megabyte per second is equal to 8,000,000 bits per second so the 40-70 reported is actually 320-560Mbps = 0.32-0.56Gbps almost half the speed you are expecting to approach

It may be a limiting factor if you are copying to a HDD not in a RAID config or not an SSD. You should try to use some tools that generate random (ie not reading a file) and throwing the result (not written to disk) to try to saturate the link.

i have this media converter MC220L it is just awesome. only bad thing is the copper port only supports gig speed no 100 mbps fallback. that means if you connect to a 100 mbps port it will not connect. conan, i love those audio tracks, can you give me the album name??

Because of different wavelengths between rx and tx. You can re-read the device specifications
