Hi, I just wanted to say Thank you and I appreciate the time you take out of your life to make these videos. I have been following along with your beginner tutorial on OpenWRT. I am currently using a Banana pi R1, but my Banana pi R3 is going to here by the end of the month.

ISP here, we have been using them for a few months now and everything ok, just one that randomly died just a couple days after been installed, we have them paired with a TP-Link DeltaStream Pizza-Box and it just works fine haha, all yours videos are very good, keep the good work, greetings from Venezuela.

Hey Gabrielgful, thank you for the information. I've just take a look at this DS-P7001-08 few day ago and want to give it a try ...However this should be out of my budget at the momment (for demonstration purpose only).

I am also an isp since 1998. Switched to pon system back in 2014 , it was really hard to find anything for pon back then. We had huwaei & vsol systems only. Cisco was way too expensive for us. One thing i am not liking about this tplink onu is that it can not be used as a router. , I have other cheaper ones made with huawei chips & they have pppoe login or static ip routing option. & Even dual lan ports. These are very useful for customers who do not want to use a wireless router so instead of logging in from their windows pc everytime, we just login their pppoe on the onu & they plug their pc anytime they want to use the internet. Or if they get a wifi router they can just set it to access point mode and plug it into the onu. The one i use has dual lan port , 1 gigabit & 1 fast ethernet (100m). The telephone jack is of no use as i don't provide voip. And these cheap 10$ onu's actually run at full gigabit throughput! I don't offer more than 1gbps package and barely any buy that package as it is 100$ a month. Most popular package i sell is the 8$ a month package which gives customer's 100mbps to play with. There are few using 300 & 500mbps packages. I have one customer who does stock tradeing & he has taken 3 connections from 3 different isp's & directions , he runs it through a loadbalancing router. I don't provide anything other than fiber optic since 2020 & fiber optic installation costs 15$.

I heard some ISP use mac id to lock pppoe authentication. if this onu does not have mac id cloning then it is not useful, I think.

My ISP - Orange is not allowing to connect my own router and to set ISP modem in bridge mode. Will this ONT allow me to get rid of ISP modem and connect the cable directly to SC/APC port and then to my own router? Or I need to configure it somehow and ISP needs to provide some information? Thanks.

thanks for showing up web ui configuration bro, that custom vlan tag make me want to try :) because that how i success bridge my ont to get connected with pppoe protocol on openwrt....but yeah i dont know yet if isp look something like mac address/etc of device that connected to fiber port.

Usually, I prefer to handle the VLAN on my router since it is much more stronger compare to the ONT (gpon bridge mode in this case). Also, when it is working in VLAN transparent mode, I can access to all VLANs on my OpenWRT router and use them for my own purposes (PPPoE/IPTV).

​@@VanTechCorner hello, I want confirming finally after saving I can buy and try this devices on my isp Indihome ( Indonesia ISP) and It works as expected, I only need vlan tag ; you can use scan vlan features to know waht vlan useb by your olt; ( for now I use ont vlan because my openwrt router just archer c7 v5 so I don't want to eat more resources on router side) and Set GPON SN with ZTEG in hexadecimal + the serial number after ZTEG. thank u for your content. cheers

@@ariasultan You can backup your configuration from zte indihome modem to usb drive and you will get one file (I forgot what the extention name is) after that you have to open it with routerpassview then you will get your ppoe account.

Nếu không rành về GPON / Bridge mode và quay PPPoE thì em có thể tìm hiểu thêm trước khi làm theo các chỉ dẫn của anh. TP-Link XZ000-G3 được FPT lắp cho khách hàng nếu có yêu cầu (tùy trường hợp, yêu cầu đã có router tự trang bị). Trường hợp em đang được trang bị thiết bị khác (đang chạy ở bridge mode kết hợp với router khác để quay pppoe), em có thể tự mua con xz000-g3 về thay thế cho route nhà mạng.

If your ISP checks mac address this device is absolutely useless, no ssh, no telnet, not even custom firmware can make you change the mac address
