When you let your band members take the stage because you are a great leader and don't need to be the center of attention at all times,that's leadership and power.

Tell that to Verckys! No one knows any of the musicians he played with. Some of his albums had no pictures of the band members. Just him. Up to date, I don't know who played for Veve despite hits like Vivita, Kalala etc..
@jarawilla90436 жыл бұрын
where did they hide the horns section in this genial clip! Interesting to catch a young Lola Checain being that physically expressive in dance! Like Djo Mpoy later, Lola always did seem to bring an air of grave concentration to the art of singing. Never like Sam Mangwana who would acknowledge everybody in the band and goad them on to a riot performance! Great clip, also that the guitar section is more or less settled with young Decca Mpudi, Thiery Mantuika and Luambo. Genial Michelino and Papa Noel would later arrive, and the ever steady Lutumba to boot, but the sound is set. Wonderful

Musicians only bond when they are young and they are really fir a common purpose to build a career. When money comes in and the leaders take control of funds ,mistrust comes in and the band disintegrates. See how youthful and energetic ok jazz were in late 50s, early sixties to seventies.

@jm041519759 жыл бұрын
onesmus odhiambo I read somewhere that Kiamuangana lost all his originals. He purposely never promoted individual band members in neither Orch. Kiam, Veve nor or Lipua Lipua. He was a perfectionist who promoted his bands and of course himself. :-)
