I’m just showing what I do and trying to help out others. Thanks for your question so I can clear things up for people.

Neat! I didn't know you could do that. I have used a damp rag and a drop or two of dish soap with good results, but this looks better. Thanks for the tip!

No problem, it’s best to wash it but you can do it this way.

@@NorthernTrapper I don't have a good place to dry them. Until this year, I haven't had a fur shed in 15 years. The one I have now is not heated, so washing is hard to do. Some I have done didn't dry well and some even had hair slippage around the ears. I'm better off scrubbing them, but I'll try your way for sure now! My wife will allow them in the house to dry, but they smell like a wet dog! I try not to unless there is no other choice!

Lol, she must be happy for the new dead shed.

@@NorthernTrapper VERY! I need to insulate it though so it stays warmer longer to dry pelts. It's great having a shed again!

Hey NT a piece of foam works great as a pin cushion, saves putting your hand into a container full of push pins.
@NorthernTrapper6 жыл бұрын
You bet I use that some times if I don’t get lazy and don’t put them in the extra bin.

Thanks good tip water on fur is such pain unless I guy has a big shop and even then a lot of extra work plus at cold temperatures hard to get rid of humidity going to give this a try.
@NorthernTrapper10 ай бұрын
Humidity makes it tough to dry the pelts properly. Hopefully this works for you.

What is the brush thing called that you used at the beginning of the video? Thanks.
@NorthernTrapper4 жыл бұрын
It’s a dog slicker brush. You can pick them up for cheap at a dollar store or Walmart.

Good job! I use borax sometimes esp if fleas or anything as that stuff is multipurpose even preserves. Cleans really well eh? I also use cold water with little detergent and brush.
@markscheerer12826 жыл бұрын

i got a tanned coyote fur and it smells really bad. how can i get the smell out of it so i can hang it in my living room ?
@NorthernTrapper Жыл бұрын
It should not smell bad but you can get a garbage bag and put some fabreeze in it with the coyote pelt. It should help.

Why not just wash it before you board it?
@NorthernTrapper6 жыл бұрын
I usually do but some times I get backed up and don’t check after its fleshed if it looked good before.
@marklumley6196 жыл бұрын
Northern Trapper makes sense then and is what I figured but I just wanted to know. Notice I didn't do like so many commenters and go right to an insult, it's because I just didn't know but now I do.
