Because people in the 70s were too focused on it being "loud and satanic". Black Sabbath are all devout christians, and their music carries a lot of biblical references

The world knows the "gospel chops" quite well already. It's been obvious after listening to the original the first time. Black Sabbath were well known and well respected musically. It's just that it's so long ago now that the kids are just finding out about it. Check out Charles Bradley's cover of Changes from Vol.4

Such a perfect fit & so unexpected, but as someone before me pointed out in the above comments, in retrospect, it seems obvious that in Ozzy's original vocal line, there was potential for a Gospel singer's embellishments. However, as far as I know, no one thought of it until T-Pain. The entire band made this arrangement perfect, but of course, it is the vocals that made it so amazing. As a Black Sabbath fan from my days in high school back in the 1980's, I salute you, sir. Music seems to be the one arena where people of all backgrounds can still find common ground in our ever increasingly divided world. Go all people of Good Will!!!!!!!

I don’t know new rap. I’m a metal guy. I approve of this rendition. The Hammond organ is a deep cut. I’m gonna look up T-pain and check his stuff out.

Im a 33 year old millennial who jas largely blown off T Pain because i just didnt like the auto tune and never looked farther. Ive absolutely been missing out! Wow! Excellent cover here and I'm going on a deep dive! I got here via Tennessee Whiskey, of all things. Had no clue this man had pipes like this.

T-Pain's use of auto tune was just his style, it was never a crutch. It's great that he's getting more recognition for being a dopeass vocalist.

T pain seems like the nicest, most talented guy that a lot of people believe is exactly the opposite. During the lock down I started watching some of his streams and looked up some clips of him singing without autotune and it blew me away. One, he's chill as shit. Two, he has natural talent that unfortunately was ignored due to the autotune stuff selling

Okay, I kept hearing about this, hadn't had a chance to listen. Massive Sabbath fan, one of my favorite Sabbath songs. And this, 2 minutes and 6 seconds in, I'm hooked. This is a great cover. And I am very picky about covers. I usually look at it as the original artist got it right, why bother. And while this is not quite on the same level as the original, this cover can see The Originals yard from it's front porch. Nice job. Well done sir.

I appreciate the art of music and not everyone can put the art and feelings into there music especially doing covers. Most people try to hard or don’t try enough because it’s already a good song so they think there’s is going to be to. So they try to match the original as much as possible and even if it sounds decent I don’t like most peoples covers because they don’t put their own personality, heart, and emotions/ feelings in when doing the cover. So I really love when I do hear a cover of a song when the person put them into it even if the person doesn’t have a great or even good singer voice. As long as people can tell they are passionate about what they are singing, putting the right amount of emotion in and in the right spots people will not care how the voice sound. And I think this cover is amazing the voice sound amazing and it is just perfect for this song. This is probably one of my favorite covers. It definitely goes in my top 5 favorite covers.

As ❤ fan of the original song when I first heard it in 1971, I have to say... nailed it. Not only that, but it impacted me even more intensely and seems so relevant and timely right now.
