Yes, The Flinch Grinch is a tough challenge! The focus is to be aggressive on the reset and prep and deliberate on the trigger pull. 👍🏻

Why would you train pinning the trigger? What purpose does that serve?

Pinning the trigger is just a starting stage of this drill. The focus is not to train to pin the trigger but to reset it fast and efficiently and get to the trigger "wall" as soon as possible as to shot is fired. That action puts you in a ready and control position for a precise second shot if it is needed. In reality, you do not want to pin the trigger but to prep the trigger to that "wall". We pin the trigger in this exercise in order to isolate the specific action that is the focus of the drill - reset, prep & press.
