I remember hearing someone at WDW saying that you could injure yourself on Florida's Space Mountain by putting your hands in the air at certain points in the coaster because the scaffolding is so close to the trackt. But, that's not true because every ride at Disney is designed with a "cushion of protection"- a certain amount of space so that riders can't touch things outside of their vehicle. That's why the seats on that coaster have you slouch so far into the car frame- it's preventing you from reaching above far enough. *The More You Know*

The big vacuum system is very loud from the utilidoors and gives me a small heart attack every time it starts up and hurls trash. Another fun fact is that when it happens or when they're moving machinery through the tunnels, they play the music from Wall-E and you can hear "Waaaaalllllleeee" and "Eeeevvvvaa", during the process, just to let cast members know to steer clear during that process. I'd love to see an extended history of the country bear jamboree!

I work at one of the many simulators and have heard plenty of guests say that we never clean our 3D glasses. This is so not true. We have giant machine rooms where we clean glasses after each use. We have to make sure that the temperature on the machine is just right so that the glasses are cleaned correctly. Also, our performers in the parks are real people, not animatronics. Some people (before the internet) thought the Ballroom ghosts in the Haunted Mansion were "holographic projections"! I worked at a very large engineering company in the 80's and had an argument with one of the engineers there that swore Disney was using holographic projections to do the ballroom ghosts. I had been a performing stage magician from age 8 (I was great at designing illusions but a bad performer so I moved on to other things in my adult years) thus I knew the real secret. But as I was just a machinist and he was an engineer he felt my "pepper's ghost" explanation was interesting but still wrong.

The funniest story I have heard (from former cast member’s blog) was when a gentlemen came up to her and asked her “when are they going to put it up?” She responded, “excuse me?” He went on to say the rain was ruining his family’s vacation (and other people’s too” and he wanted to know when they were going to put “IT” up. She said, “sir, you do understand this is the rainy season, correct?” She stopped and thought and said, “sir, what do you want them to put up?” He said, “the dome they put over the park to keep the rain out.” LMAO!!

I had heard that no cast member was allowed to have the same name as another, so they would often go by other names, that weren't already taken. I asked a tour guide during the Keys to the Kingdom tour and he said that it's not true and that he works with at least 5 other Marks.
@kristenholloway80574 жыл бұрын
no, but if a cast member has the same name as one of the major characters it is watched like a hawk. I worked with a guy whose name was Mickey and he was offered some insane $$$ for his nametag. He had to actually prove that his real name was Mickey. (My brother as well is a Chip and he had to jump through hoops to get that instead of his given name (whcih was charles) Now if they work in Disney Reservations, they are given a "stage" name and no 2 people have the same name.

My family and I were stuck on a broken down ride in Magic Kingdom for about an hour, and the park was closed by the time they got us off the ride. I can say first hand that they do shut off the music and lights on the attractions. It was so eerie walking through a dark and quiet Magic Kingdom!

8:10 I could imagine that after the park closes for a day, all of the characters I can imagine like the rocketships from Space Mountain including Rocket from the Little Einsteins, It's a Small World children, Carousel horses, and others all head to bed in unknown parts of Disney parks to awaken another day of the happiest place on earth. Another fact I can imagine is that if there's a problem at night like a rocketship having insomnia again, magical medical problem, or other, I believe a third shift cast members will take care of them.

Former MK CM here--The tunnels themselves are so ugly, but they have placards with descriptions (that I personally hadn't heard before) when you're entering a new land and have a color-coded stripe on the wall. One of the things that made late night shifts at party parades worth it was waiting in the tunnels to clock out and watching the performers go by--Tink talking to Snow White, a Hitchhiking Ghost giving us a wave, a pirate stopping to chat or taking the black gunk out of his mouth. Truly a once in a lifetime experience. The Walt Disney HM bust always bugs me, but I earned brownie points with my trainer when I was "earning my ears" for knowing that bit of trivia.

Also, did you know that the famous Magic Kingdom "Utilidors" isn't the only place in a Disney World park, that has a tunnel? Epcot also has a tunnel that connects the outer service areas of the park, the the two former Innoventions buildings, since, being in the middle of the park, they don't really have a service entrance food and merchandise deliveries.
@kristenholloway80574 жыл бұрын
the ones under Innoventions don't actually connect to each other, though. There is a break room, storage and in the late 1990's used for characters in-between sets.

Cinderella Castle 189', Spaceship Earth 180' Expedition Everest 189' all suspiciously just shy of 20 stories. Florida's building code would require an red aircraft warning light atop such a structure. This would indeed spoil the Disney Magic. Back in the 80's Hugh Downs of 20/20 did a 3rd shift segment on Disneyland. The went through Pirates, with sound "winding down" went through the animatronics. Other techs were polishing brass on carousel & the tea cups & checking for burnt out light bulbs on Main Street . Lots of work to keep up the "magic"

a group of us had a very late dinner at Club 33 a few years ago. We left the park almost 3 hours after the park had closed. So we were the very last guests out that night. The music was indeed off and it was so, so quiet. Almost creepy. The only people we saw were a group of cast members on the Sailing Ship Columbia doing their routine for Fantasmic. The Club 33 cast member that was supposed to walk us to the gate, asked if we would like to stop and watch. So we stayed for another 40 minutes before leaving the park. It was beautiful and so creepy!
