The Disney Theme parks, whether it's Walt Disney World or Disneyland, are always building new rides. Generally, these construction projects follow pretty structured timelines but sometimes unexpected problems & delays come up. Like the original Test Track at Epcot, The Seven Dwarfs Mine Train & all of New Fantasyland at Magic Kingdom or even the nighttime spectacular Rivers of Light at Animal Kingdom. During this process, many people are quick to deem these projects “failures” but delays have been happening dating as far back as the opening of Disneyland. A lot of these quote-on-quote failed openings are smash hits today, so we’re gonna dive into the history of why these Disney rides were delayed and didn't open on time. So let's explore the stories of 3 Failed Openings at the Disney Theme Parks. DON'T FORGET TO LIKE AND SUBSCRIBE!*** ►bit.ly/2mfriBD ◄

current test track can be obtained by renting a convertible and going down the interstate... heck, I'd say that's even more thrilling as you can go as fast as traffic lets you lol. At least old test track had some fun themeing.

Eh, I prefer the neon lighting and the future like sounds and music, Test Track 1.0 is fun yes, but I like 2.0 better, I’m not gonna bring up the “you’re just blinded by nostalgia” bullshit since that’s just trying to overshadow someone’s opinion.

I never knew Disney was originally planning a Pixie Hollow mini land! Although it probably wont happen due to the popularity of Disney Fairies lowering due how there hasn’t been been a movie in forever, I hope we get a irl Pixie Hollow one day! Idk the atmosphere in the movies of Pixie Hollow was so magical and charming! It would have been so much fun to walk around a fairy land and the food would have been cool to see!

We went to Disneyland the week that "Pirates of the Caribbean" in 1967 ... or rather, tried to ... the first week was a disaster, with the ride operating about 2-4 hours per day... what we were told was "technical glitches". ... which included the animatronic that sitting on the edge of a bridge, who was supposed to lean over and talk to the boat - leaned over the fell into a woman's lap! We did get to ride it...

The new test track is quite boring in my opinion. Or “one note” if you will. I don’t understand how the Tron like scenery fits with a car going through testing protocol. Just seems like they relied on the lighting a little too much. And when the lightings Almost the same in every room, and there’s no real story anymore, I just chop it up to a “meh” these days. The old Test Track will always have a special place in my heart.

My wife and I were lucky. We saw Rivers of Light in September of 2018 and we loved it. Then my oldest friend who was had been a CM told me the live performers were being phased out the next Monday. What a shame. It almost saved what had been a most unpleasant day at AK.

@@cocc_goblin We went on to Flight of Passage. at about the 30 second mark it froze while we were locked into the "bikes" on a 45 degree angel to the left. After about 5 minutes a woman from the UK started having a panic attack feeling claustrophobic. I searched until I found the cameras aimed at the row of people and started to gesture hopefully to get someones attention. Then a barn door opened at the top revealing a guy who looked like Gilligan down to his red shirt and bucket hat. Instead of trying to calm the girl down as we were all trying, and I will admit that by now (10 minutes in) she way pretty hysterical. he made it worse yelling at her for being on a ride like this if she knew she was claustrophobic. Finally at 15 minutes we were released. It was then that they told us what happened which made it worse. It turned out that Gilligan leaned on an emergency stop button. It took a while to get the maintenance person there to reset the ride and free us. The whole thing was handled so poorly we cancelled our second day at AK and switched it out with Epcot.

I didn't realize they didn't technically have a new nighttime spectacular at Animal Kingdom: they've got these big light up 3d kites (of Disney characters, etc) that fly behind jet skis (like they've done at Epcot, but different kite style), but apparently they have some trouble controlling them, getting them to land gracefully on the docks, etc. I saw them testing them during the day in early June.

Wow, I had no idea the current test Track is relatively new.. it feels really old and outdated. Hopefully they will consider updating it again, perhaps combining the old dynamic sets of the orginal with the futuristic style of the current version. Additionally.. they should consider making it faster... perhaps 75 mph? Or that might not be a good idea to increase the speed of a ride intended for families 😅

Was Mine Train an "after thought" in response to Universal? I really think Disney was caught flat footed like Donald Duck. Seven Dwarfs IS unique. I think it's the only coaster of this kind that exists. Vekoma did swinging suspended coasters, but none that swung low on the chassis. Image If Hong Kong decided to get one? It would likely be longer/faster.

Even though the Disney Fairies franchise has been forgotten by Disney animation and a few people at Disney, and some out there don't even know about it. The hardcore fans are still keeping the franchise alive, because it had been part of their childhoods since the Tinkerbell movies came out. As well as Disney Fairies animated shorts. And they're doing it with KZbin, and of course Disney Plus has all of the Tinkerbell movies, and I can tell the hardcore fans are watching them again and again. Even creating a new generation of fans. I also believe that the merchandise is still out there as well, because I actually remember finding a lot of Tinkerbell shirts, swimsuits, I believe I even found some backpacks and even lunch boxes. I really do believe the merchandise is still going at the same time. Because the fans just want more and more of the Disney Fairies, just like the Disney Princesses. So one day pixie hollow might be made for Fantasyland at the Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World. Because when I saw the concept art, it looked really creative and a total masterpiece. Because the truth is almost everything throughout Walt Disney World, including the Magic Kingdom will never be completed they will grow and change as long as there is imagination left throughout the twenty thousand four hundred acre vacation destination aka the most magical place on Earth. And so I believe even though Fantasyland in the Magic Kingdom is bigger and more magical, I totally believe there will be more and possible expansion for the area. One of them I'm hoping is a Frozen area, as we all know that is a very popular franchise from Disney, ever since the very first original movie became a big head since 2013. And I think the Magic kingdom's Fantasyland shoot deserve its own Frozen area. And I also believe that the Magic kingdom's Fantasyland also deserves a pixie hollow area, with a meet-and-greet attraction featuring Tinkerbell and all of her inside the magical tree. And that night I hope to see beautiful twinkling lights in the leaves of the tree, as well as some of the plants, bushes and other trees throughout the area. Giving the illusion that it's not just magic sparkles, but they're supposed to be pixie dust. And since and since Disneyland's Fantasyland has a canal boat attraction, the Magic Kingdom also used to have a canal boat attraction. They used to be white and the front of the boats used to have a swan head, I forgot what they called it. I think they called it the swan canal boats or Swan lake canal boats. They used to float on the moat of the Magic Kingdom, passing underneath Bridges that let you into the main entrances of the areas of the Magic Kingdom surrounding centralplaza the hub. And the boats used to circle Swiss Family Robinson treehouse. I don't know how long that attraction lasted, but Disneyland still has its canal boat attraction. Which we all know it as the canal boats of Storybookland. So I think the Magic Kingdom should have a better canal boat attraction, but instead of floating on the moat of the Magic kingdom's hub. I think the canal boat ride should be located in Fantasyland, and I think pixie hollow should be the perfect place for the attraction. It should be called the pixie hollow canal boats, and it should provide relaxation for the guests. And a beautiful, charming, magical and peaceful guided tour ride for the guests as well. I don't know what the boats might look like, but I hope they can look like as if they were made by Tinkerbell. And just like The Storybookland canal boats at Disneyland where some of the fairytale characters of Fantasyland including the Disney Princesses might tried on those boats with the guests, I think Tinkerbell and her friends. Should also ride with the guests on the pixie hollow canal boats as well. So it could be a magical idea that the guests and the hardcore Disney Fairies fans experience, if they get lucky to seeTinkerbell or any of her pixie fairy friends on bored one of the boats. To ride with either Tinkerbell or one of their other favorite pixie fairys. I hope it's possible that pixie hollow can be another expansion for Fantasyland in the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World. Complete with very unique and magical experiences throughout the area

How the Animal Kingdom Park is at this time makes you say that is not that epic like Magic Kingdom, Epcot Center, and Disney Hollywood Studios cause it has no nighttime show as of right now 😔

This seems like a no-brainer to me: Cinderella Pumpkin Coach ride. We walk through Cinderella‘s chateau. We hear the stepsisters yelling at her and tearing her dress apart, as we see shadows of it happening from the other room. Animatronic mice pop out of various holes and talk to us/each other. “Poor Cinderellie”. We see the dress transformation and pumpkin coach transformation through the back doors. (Pepper’s Ghost effects just like Beast transformation). Then we go INTO the “same” garden and board the coach (Not sure where Cinderella is at this point. Are WE Cinderella? Or are we stealing her coach??) and take it to the Castle! We actually LEAVE the show building and travel to the park’s centerpiece! At the Castle, we see the (animatronic) ball through the big windows! I think it would be fun to de-board here, rather than where we started! We’ve actually TRAVELED somewhere! I hate that it switches from daytime to nighttime to daytime to nighttime… but what can ya do??

Old test track was so much better. The new version has zero theming and the test dummies made the old version much more fun with a hint of "character".

Am I the only one who unironically loves the new Test Track? Maybe I’m just a sucker for futuristic stuff. I still miss the German and Belgian bricks, though.

I was working at both Disney and Universal in 2014 right around the time of the expansions and there was absolutely no contest, Universal won that war. So much so that the majority of both parks’ projects since then haven’t even come close to being considered direct competition of each other.

I was a dcp at DAK in Fall 2015 and I often would see the floats for Rivers of light when I would go on ice runs. Sad I never got to see it live.

In March 2020, we had plans to go to Disney World. Unfortunately, they were cancelled due to the pandemic. We had plans to see River of Lights: We Are One and were excited. Now, I'm disappointed that it closed, since many family friends said that it was wonderful. I think the concept of it was good, so they could probably rework it into something better.

I really prefer the old test track. It had a charm that the new doesn't have. The new test track has a nice futuristic feel, but it somehow takes away from the overall experience that the old ride provided.
