For something like this, you would need to have the garment lined, or at least back the area where the center shows the gap. Mr. Sato teaches the technique for pattern making, and how to achieve the design (by means of draping) for the most advanced sewers, which means to say you need to do your own finishing. How you want to finish the garment is up to you according to your skills level. If you wish to have the gap showing, it's also permissible.
