The internet is the worst thing that ever happened to graffiti. From 1995-2001, I could actually tell where someone was from, regionally, based on technique and style. Nowadays, everything is so homogeneous and generalized. My mentor, who started painting in 1983, could identify different styles by neighborhood in NYC or surrounding areas like NJ and CT. If you knew enough, you could usually pinpoint where a writer lived in based upon their style. By 2000, the internet destroyed most of that in just a few short years. The backwards leaning, foldover omelette S is going to be the "that was done in 2020" timestamp. It's a legit trend now, along with the "make it a one liner at all costs" trend from a couple genuis French taggers. The internet destroyed regional style. Tagger kids in my area have been doing a shitty variation on this look over the past 2-3 months, all over great burners in abandos, copying their insta feed styles with no clue as to why the masters make it look good.
