My parents bought me this on VHS as a kid. Years later now, I showed it to my wife who's in her mid 20's and we watched it together. I found myself crying lol. But she wasn't weird about it. She enjoyed it with me. My favorite sci-fi film of ALL

A Brilliant Movie with a Message that People All Over the World should try and Understand about Differences, We may look different believe in other things but the main thing is We are All the Human Race. This Music at Drac Holy Council is quiet Moving when You have seen and Understand the Film and it's Message.

Totally agreed dear friend In this soundtrack Maurice Jarre shows us that there is no universe so big that it contains love

Saw this gem of a movie as a kid in the mid 80s when it first came out. The soundtrack fits this movie so well, and I especially love the "holy drac council" chorus at the end.

Absolutely - seen the movie as a young kid in the 80's and I have been astounded by the esoteric and undernoticed brilliance of this soundtrack.

"And so Davidge brought Zammis and the Dracs home. He fulfilled his vow, and recited the line of Zammis' forefathers before the Holy Council on Dracon. And when, in the fullness of time, Zammis brought its own child before the Council, the name of Willis Davidge was added to the Line of Jeriba."

A pleasant conceit...but I rather think Davidge himself (at least in the original novella & the movie's novelization), if I may speak in his place, would consider such a thing as far beyond his deserts and disrespectful to the memory and culture of the being that was his friend. 🤔 🤨

@@goldenager59It was still a great but underrated story. One of 80's movies best.

@@goldenager59 You would think so, But similar things have happened throughout history. Even the Bible story. Someone who's not part of the true bloodline, who comes from a lowly, or even unworthy lineage gets added to the genealogy out of love. At least in this movie, it shows just how highly the dracs consider and appreciate this human who adopted the young drac as his own child and risked his life to save him. I'd like to think the humans and dracs ended their warring because of it. I think that's the big message behind this film and that's why I love it so much

You can hear elements of Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome (which was also Maurice Jarre.)

Just watched enemy mine. First time since it was first on telly. All the way through I’m hearing Mad Max. It’s so close that it’s almost identical. Had to look it up on IMDB, only to find they were both written by Jarre. I didn’t really need to look, it’s so obvious tbh.

LP version, here? This refrain is so recognizable for me, immediately was back in those days and the name JARRE always stands for super quality (reffering to his worldfamous son).
