You are most welcome. Please note that Start variance is used to calculate the difference of planned and actual start date after the schedule is finalized. But the custom field feature as shown in this video will be useful to detect the changes done to any task in your schedule if you send a schedule to someone and they change the duration / linking of predecessors of any task.

It will be useful to detect the changes done to any task in your schedule if you send a schedule to someone and they change the duration / linking of predecessors of any task.
