This is absolute madness! The power this DAW has can be overwhelming, if it were not for you showing us all the great tidbits. Thank you so much

For all of us who used to have to go through all sorts of contortions to 'punch in' and 'punch out' of takes, Reaper just took the prize in terms of simplifying it all! Just one of the many reasons to jump on board. Thanks Kenny!

I loved the old take mode with just splitting and showing/hiding takes. I'm forcing myself to learn this new way of comping with lanes, but the sheer amount of options hurts my brain. This video helps simplify the process. I will adapt!

Thank you for this, Kenny. For some unknown reason (maybe because I'm an old man?) this has been very difficult for me to understand. This video helps blow away some of the fog, and I'm confident additional experimentation will result in a clearer vision. Keep 'em coming!!!

Brother if it was easy everyone would be doing it! Once you see it done it's relatively easy to understand, but if you're new to this stuff it's not very intuitive. Practice doing it a few times and it'll all click. Good luck man!

The comping system in reaper has so many options! I've been meaning to use it... However I've been just splitting and repositioning everything in reaper from this point to create the main comp. Thank you for the comping video I've been looking for one!

So lets say i keep messing up at the same spot in the song but I get it right later in the song. How do I cut and paste that into an earlier spot using lanes?

Hi Kenny, thanks for the instructional. What if u wanna delete the selected comps in say 3 lanes so you know which comps you used and only have the remaining pieces in the lanes. So u export the comp to a new track and start comping again with the remaining items in the lane. Good for doubles.
Thanks a lot Kenny! That's was really helpful. Finally I start to understand. BTW, I'm used to setting the crossfading time btwn segments of audio manually. For what I've seen in the video, it seems fixed. Sometimes I prefer to mix the in / out audio, that is, the last part of a good take mixes with the first part of the following one. Is it possible? Once again, thanks a lot.

Amazing as always :) Kenny, would you conceive an interview for the brazilians Reaper/Kenny fans?

Hai Kenny, very clear thanx. I have a question about making a comp out of a few takes of improvisation. Is there a way to do this? I mean this: when recording a few passes of solo guitar os sax or whatever, it is likely that you get phrases that are not the same length. Is it possible to shift a part of another lane to the right so that you can insert it in the comp after a phrase in another lane that overlaps it. (I am not sure if this makes sense)

I'm a big fan of your tutorials Kenny. Learned a lot, but I always feel like the comping videos would be easier to follow if audibly different comps were used in the examples, so we can hear the track changing when the comps are changed. Anyway, just a thought. You've clearly thought about this stuff a lot. So I may be missing something for sure.

It just really hard to find new content with multiple passes of the same performance.

Hello, I really enjoyed watching your video. I have a question and am leaving a comment. In your video, you used the 'T' key to move the 'take lane'. Could you provide the action script for this? It seems I might have deleted this function when I changed the shortcuts in Reaper some time ago.😂

The action you want is "Move comp area at mouse down, or switch items to next take"
