Hey brother it looks good but you really need to strip the wood completely b4 you ever touch it with sandpaper. A spray on stripper will eliminate the majority of your sanding and it will help you to keep proper fitment of the action.

Thanks for the tip 👍🏻 and stopping by, but didn't put a ton of work in to this peace. Just gave $50.00 for the little .22. That's going to be my woods gun for Hunting as well carrying on trapping line on the wheeler

Why do you raise the grain ?

When sanding working from 100 to 220 grit it's good to raise the grain between sanding. After sanding with 100 grit sandpaper wet the stock and dry that will raise the fibers that's compressed into the grain of the wood . You can feel them and see them sticking up. Then sand with say a 150 grit and repeat and pull the fibers once again out of the grain. And then sand with 220 grit this will make it clean smooth like glass finish. And will give a professional finish look when stained with no ruff patches in the wood from fibers pushed in during sanding process
