What is scary is the city failed to come forward and say Marcus West was innocent after he died. They arrested an innocent black man and he died because of a so-called "identification program". They should've been doing their jobs properly.

The start of this storyline was a very good idea because it touched on the difficult subject of face recognition software but the execution of the episode was terrible. With West killed, it was bad, messy & not believable. It was the commissioner's fault anyway, he forced this software on Jay& didn't tell him about the error of the system, and then as a higher-up, he never paid the consequences, they pinned it all on Jay. Jay was also strangely isolated from the entire team in this epi (so you know it was forced writing for the sake of the plot points), which prevented him from maybe seeking more advice and cooling off, and Trudy pushed Jay further into believing West is guilty and to 'get the monster' - literally the words she said. The writers knew the real Jay would never act this way, so they had to force it with this sloppy writing. They started sacrificing the characters for the sake of the plot on this show, and that's where it went downhill. And it was season 7, so exactly the season when this show went downhill overall.

That unfortunately is reality, and it's not just a cop thing. You had too many high ranking people who would have been hurt by the admission, people under a lot of pressure to close that case, at a time when the system could not afford another embarrassment, vs the life of one guy who was a career loser right from the crib. It wasn't right, it wasn't fair, but there it is.

but it is real how the police system works in the US, so you have to appreciate this show's brutal honesty. No other American cop TV show portrays the reality so close to the facts and is brave enough to not sugarcoat it, to talk about taboo subjects and write about not just the heroic actions of the cops, but ugly reality too. and that's why I love it. But what I hate in this episode is how they did Jay dirty. Jay would never be that blindsided, and make an error such as this, so they cut him off the team in this episode basically, also, the superintendent, Trudy & Voight pushed Jay towards bad solutions, yet no higher-up paid the consequences, and Voight with his dirty games again. So I love the idea and how real it is, but I hate the execution and the writing of Jay because anyone who watches this show regularly knows that Jay would NEVER act this recklessly, with such a big tunnel vision. But on the other hand, what made things worse was the fact that West lied to Jay - so he muddied the waters and that's on him, and that was also a fatal mistake.

His family should have sued the city, instead they get stigmatised as the family of a child killer, and people are going to act like idiots and harass them for their whole lives, maybe worse

The death of an innocent child or two is enough to cause heartbreak for any mother.. innocent children being dead can cause emotional damage to both mothers and fathers..

I hate and appreciate this episode at the same time. I like it because it is one of the most raw, the best episodes of Chicago PD ever, as it shows how the real police system works in the US, so you have to appreciate this show's brutal honesty. Bull Crap. Halstead was always a belligerent emotional train wreck who couldn’t keep his head together. Lonnie Rodiger who murdered a child in season 1. Garret the dealer who murdered a girl in season 6. Season 7 his need to be a hero got a woman beaten by her husband. Voight may not be a saint but Halstead wasn’t a white knight either.

Just like real life, they violate dozens of laws and rights, knowingly put him in danger, don't come out to say he's innocent after they realize they literally just had him murdered, and cover the hole thing up. They decided he was less than a human and a worthy sacrifice for their "cause". Again just like real life.

Remember Kevin did that and the white cops turned against him volt wasn't really trying to hear that truth because he is black. It’s a show and it’s fake I worked for the mourge for years cops would never carry dead bodies out they can’t touch the bodies the medical examiner needs to be there and they contact the mourge or funeral home and we pick up the bodies

If you watch the episode you find out that the "ID" system doesn't work well on black people and the accuracy gets wkrs3 for each shade darker.

The software is scary but what is predictable is the inevitable cover his ass actions of the senior officer who promoted it, probably got promoted for it and just walked away. And that it's going on right now, and the same thing will keep happening, is truly frightening for all of us, whatever race we are. Computers do not discriminate unless they are programmed to.

What good is a stretcher for a DOA? When you're dead at the scene, they cover and move you. What good would a stretcher do? Plus, stretchers are with paramedics. There are only police on scene. So assumedly, they expected no survivors so they never called for an ambo

@@NobleTeam99 every other time, in real life, on TV, and in footage of real events, they put the body on a stretcher covered up. Plus cops don't officiate deaths, that is a doctors job. An ambulance would be necessary

@@NobleTeam99 So in real life usually the paramedics have to treat the body as if they are still alive. So that means putting them on the stretcher so no evidence gets tampered with and transporting the body out. Plus carrying a body out by hand really hurts your back after a few months.

I just started season one with my fiancé. I love this show and the storyline so far one thing I dislike replace that camera man or take him to a rehab. He’s doing too much coke & holding camera while shaking. Hope it gets better and season two.

whats so sad about this episode is it highlights all those other episodes where the police blatantly exhibit empathy towards white suspects. even when the victims were minors. great writing.

Feel bad for the kids parents seeing 2 police officers carrying 2 dead boys the kid that 3rd kid was lucky he didn't get killed as he was in the bathroom

He knew that it wasn't safe for him, he told him that, he could have put him in protective custody buy he just didnt care because he thought he was guilty anyway. In the end, his death woild be in conscience forever

I dont ever watch any of these police drama but this is good only disappointment was bringing those 2 from the other fake acting show with ICE T and blonde girl thats the type of program thats far fetched
