Here at BeatGrade we decided to do our own Top Ten series of great producers. This feature is the legendary Trackmasters. They controlled the mainstream Hip Hop charts in the early 2000's. The Trackmasters also known as Poke & Tone is an American hip hop production duo. Throughout their career they have worked with various hip-hop and R&B artists including Will Smith, R. Kelly, Nas, Jay-Z, Cam'ron, Jennifer Lopez, Mariah Carey, The Notorious B.I.G. and 50 Cent.

these beats make you realise how much of an art Hip Hop was back in the day... don't even know what it is rite now tho. Everything is so well thought out and made with feeling, the intent was always to produce something innovative and exceptional

They laid the foundation for how New York hip hop sounded for the rest of the 90's. They took Nas's career to new heights. Made a star out of Foxy Brown, Revived LL Cool J's career. Produced most of Biggie's 1st album and helped get his career off the ground.

I hate to say this, but I’m a huge fan of Trackmasters and some of their best shit was with Will Smith Lmao Yes Yes Y’all is one of the dopest Isley Brothers samples I’ve heard. I do understand why they would skip over Will’s catalog tho; Dude was a walking commercial but Trackmasters gave him some top notch beats.

Trackmasters deserve their flowers. I feel like they sadly became a footnote as the years went on. They had a great run and dominated the charts for a good minute…and a side note: how the hell is “I Shot Ya” not listed here?!?!

Puff never made beats. He just supervised how they were set up. It was always other people that actually made the beats.

In the future can you do "Teddy Riley" I know he's known for R&B beats, but "Teddy Riley" was a huge part of Hip Hip and making some of the dopiest beats as well if you look closely 😎

Later on yes. I love Nas but I started to lose interest when he released street disciple album which had so many boring beats along God's son, the letter N or untitled, and life is beautiful album were boring. Surprisingly his collaboration with hitboy made him interesting.
