at 14:18 you state that some poor bugger had to walk the length of a long train. did the poor bugger at 5:18 also have to walk the full length? i saw a couple of cars in the shot. getting a member of the crew to walk the length of the train costs the operator great gobs of cash. the locos are idling. 2 people are getting paid while the train is not moving. theres probably a ship in port waiting. how are things done in other parts of the world?

Very much doubt that a ship is waiting with the hatches to the hold open and waiting. Crew member also checks things out with the running gear on way back.

Yep, they both did as neither siding is remotely controlled.
