Really incredible engineering goes in to these.. Think about coupling 4,5 or 6 engines and building a rear end that can handle perhaps 15,000 hp. Cubic $$$ and the Allisons are my favorite. Kudos for the post.

I see the disadvantage of a turboshaft here,it has less grip and it will take a few meters to be fully grip on the tracks because of its light weight.

Deoends in the tractor but you cant get those speeds it would break they are designed to pull very heavy weight if you take it off they flip

I seriously doubt that’s the case. A complete power unit for an F1 car costs about $350000 to $400000, about the same as a decent sized house. And steering wheel costs about $50000, more than most daily drivers cost brand new.

@@matthewjones3806 I was thinking that was the case. The M1 Abrams tank uses a gas turbine engine as well, and it’s considerably quieter than tanks and armored vehicles powered by diesel engines. That’s how the Abrams got the nickname ‘Whispering Death’.
