Tractor sliding and spraying hillsides sideways

Hillside farming in the spring with a self propelled sprayer can be a bit nerve racking. Traction is always an issue this early in the year because the soil hasn't dried up yet. Once I find moisture, traction can be limited. Enjoy a bit of FPV from the iPhone because I forgot the GoPro... Have a good one!

Are there areas of the fields that 'used to' be farmed, and that were 'given up' on or let go over time for some reason (ie, too steep, too hard to turn equipment around in it, eroded over time, lost soil fertility, etc.)? If you ever happen to think of it or see certain areas that you know used to be farmed in a particular field, it would be interesting to know the backstory. Of course, not trying to tell you what to do, just offering it as a thought. Thanks for another excellent video - very much enjoy your commentary. 🙂

For sure. I will keep that in mind. Yeah, once you start going around a spot that is too steep it becomes an eyebrow quickly and is a nightmare to try to farm again. Pushing dirt around an object on a hill created an even steeper part of the hill. A lot of the CRP land out this way needs to be CRP because the ground is so light and doesnt hold up well to farming, even no till farming. I will put it in the video list!

We do chemfallow in our prescott fields, so nothing til fall and it will be wheat again. In dayton out east a bit and more rain there..we have peas and garbanzo beans.
