I grew up with the ford series 2 and 3, had a 7810 silver jubilee which was a great tractor now we have one blue and two greens. But those internationals were something special, our neighbour had two of those 1455's and the sound they made was just awesome. Best era for tractors were the 70's and 80's.

Henrik Rewes Yes but put that engine in a truck (26 -30,000lb ) and it would average 10mpg all day long , there were several engines line that ,that were discontinued, good on fuel, a little dirty emissions wise.

you are right. i work on a big farm in eu. we have of new tractors gps and all and then my dad has some ford tw.. solids tractors love them but im glad we have those electronic crap tractors when you sometimes have to drive with a samson slurry trailer 30 hours in a row, i would not do that in a old tractor but still love the old ones. sorry for bad English i never really speak that language.

There all around 6.5 litres. The ford is 192, Inter 145, jd 120+ The inter is longer stroke the ford from memory is about square or stroke and bore is the same JD a long stroke Americian Waterloo engine and biggest of the 3 at 7.6 litre. It was an option to have the Saran European produced engine at 5.5 litre for the same power I did a test once on a Ford 7700 which smoked like hell and a JD 2140 which didn't smoke at all and the jd used more fuel for the same HP, it was not what I had expected but was a fact never the less. I had a 4240s which was a 7.6 supposed to be 125 ish hp but Dyno showed 150 at the pto. Hope this helps

The Ford TW was the most powerful of the 3, as far as factory production rating. That model Deere had a non-turbo 7.6L, I believe. The 4250 and up had a turbo, and made a lot more HP.

The good old tractors, this is when tractors where real tractors, today they are more comfortable and all but they have half the power for the same size and are basically just plastic all around. The old tractors and the manual gearbox is the way to go. And most importantly No smoke No Poke.

Lul niet, die John Deere is heeft het minste vermogen van allemaal. Verder ziet die John Deere er veruit het meest gedateerd uit van deze drie. Die International is toch wel het mooist van dit trio. Een mooie Fiat 140-90 had hier ook niet misstaan.

Bjorn Broekmans Ben niet echt fan van een bepaald merk. Maar Inter, Case, Fendt, Ford, Fiat en New Holland hebben wel mooie series. Verder heb ik ook wel een zwak voor Schlüters, MB-Tracs en dat soort spul.

Comes a bit late but; Ford has a turbocharged inline six with 6,6 litres, made 186hp/617Nm. (DIN) IH has a turbocharged inline six with also 6,6 litres, made 145hp/529Nm. (DIN) JD has a turbocharged inline six with 7,6 litres, made 122hp/522Nm. (DIN) Both the Ford and IH are the "pinnacle" of their lines, JD was the smallest one of its line, biggest would have been 4850. They all had the same engine by displacement, ranging from 122hp to 215hp.

A quick search shows the 8970 was the biggest manufactured by ford at 240hp.But its was made till 2002. In the 80"s the TW-35 looks like it was the largest actually manufactured by ford. In the late 70-early 80's there was the FW-60 at 335hp but is was manufactured by steiger and sold by ford. Hope this helps. By the was that FW-60 was the heaviest sold by ford at up to 33970lbs.

Depends. TW 35 was at the time biggest "normal" tractor renowed as 8830, but there were also FW series, FW 60 to be the biggest one. They later became Versatile.
