I burn a tri axle load of firewood a winter in my outdoor wood furnace, been using a 25hp JD, since upgraded to a 46hp JD. Using the forks was a bit dangerous, after researching for a better way to cut large volumes in short time I found your channel, bought the grapple and Skeleton bucket both are extremely effective. Your channel is great, I watch a bunch of tractor channels but yours seems to be at my level of operation.

Your right, handling logs with forks is dangerous. It is also slow in comparison to a proper grapple. I am glad that you are enjoy the new attachments. Thanks for the kind words about my channel!

I ordered one from Titan last week for my skid steer, it should be here maybe a Wednesday. You guys look to have put in a pretty good days work with yours. As I get older things I used to be able to do are getting more difficult and this grapple looks like the thingamabob to do the job to help make my life easier when bucking firewood. Great video guys!

I think you will really like the grapple. I have probably handled 50 cords worth of logs with mine. I have another triaxle (5.5 cords) load now that needs cut and another on the way. Thanks for watching!

Hi Roger i really like your grapple it sure helps with cutting the logs up i have to get one or make one ! had to make up a winch lift on my engine host for the wood splitter to help this year with the big heavy ones ! going to have to make a crane or a log lift on the splitter or make a table with a lift on it ! Dont work to hard ! LOL hope your splitting day works better for you than ours went to day ! did get some wood split to day but the valve started leaking out the back ! :-( have a great day !!! Kioti Curt ! :-)

Thanks Curt! This grapple really works great for logs. I hate dealing with big wood. A log lift would be the way to go. Are you going to be able to repair the valve or will it need replaced? Have a good week.

@@TractorTech Thanks Roger I am hoping with everything that has gone on this year that it is just the fitting is loose I hope it didn't crack on the back of the valve I just can't afford to replace the valve right now ! Take care and be safe cutting the firewood ! Kioti Curt 😉👍🚜

Great set up. Quick work. I want to suggest stepping up the safety side of it and get some saw chaps, etc.

I was looking at various grapples, the wicked grapple too, but for cutting logs this seemed to work excellent

I have a Wicked root grapple. It is a very nice grapple for handling brush. This log grapple beats it hands down when it comes to handling logs.

Couple of real nice saws you go there buddy. Real nice job, I miss cutting wood it’s been awhile, such a great work out it is and is a good feeling just being outside working. Keep up the great videos and I love your new grapple looks like it works well for your application

Thanks! I enjoy cutting firewood, that is one of the reasons I do it. This grapple does really work great.

This is a lot of wood cutting! How much gallons of pre-mixed gasoline did you use to block this all? Lol! Good time of the year to do that! Thanks!
@TractorTech5 жыл бұрын
In this video and the upcoming video, we cut roughly 4.5 cords. We used approximately 108 ounces of gas, just under a gallon. The one saw my Dad was running does not get as good of fuel mileage as the newer saws. Yes, this is a good time to do the this the weather was great.

Nice set up you have there!!! I use a BX and a grapple and it has cut my time in half compared to the way we used to do things!!!

Thanks! I noticed that I was not as tired as I normally am since I was cutting from the grapple.

Good day Roger! That log grapple is really working out well for you - looks like you have a big pile to get through. So much easier to cut off the ground. BTW do you find it harder (takes longer) to cut through dry logs than to cut through green logs? See you on Part 2!
@TractorTech5 жыл бұрын
This would have gone a lot slower with out this grapple. The logs are crooked and tangled up on the pile. It would have been difficult to get them off the pile with the root grapple. Yes, cutting dry wood takes longer. It will also dull a chain faster than green wood. Dry ash will kill a chain. Green wood splits easier, well at least most species.

Thanks Roger. I agree - that grapple looks like it is well designed for the task. Thanks for the reply on the wood - I kept noticing it seemed to take longer but was not sure. Thanks for the tip on it dulling the chain faster too. I'll keep that in mind for sure. Cheers!
