Tractor Time with Tim installs the John Deere 54" snow blade on the loader using the quick hitch and an adapter from Artillian on the fork frame. This is perfect when you want to use the blade on your 1025R or similar compact tractor but need to pile the snow high. The front end loader mounted quick hitch is a great snow plowing option.

I bought my 1025 2yrs ago..week after i got it we got 35 inches of snow here in upstate n.y.I had the 54 deere plow directly to tractor via quickhitch.Tractor suprisingly handled it very well,but ive been on tractors my entire life so that helped.This year i upgraded to the artillian setup & we had an early 12"of snow & it worked excellent.I run no weight or chains..170ft asphalt driveway,so if anyones having trouble plowing 10"..its you!..not the tractor!

Tim, we'll done. You should have been a shop teacher! Made my own bracket to fit the 54 blade to a Titan FEL mounting plate. The only other thing I added was a deflector along the top edge of the blade. Keeps the light snow from blowing over the top edge during high speed runs of fluffy snow. Used a piece of 4" baler belting (from TSC). Mount it overhanging toward the front with self taping screws and fender washers. No snow in Southern MI yet.

I live in central Manitoba Canada where we have big snow. I am on my 3rd 1025r, first was a 1026r actually. I love your channel and your family presentation Tim. I operated the big snowblowers as a heavy equipment operator for many years. My friends and neighbours brag about their blowers etc. I can move large snow and make a beautiful clean-up with my loader and my box blade. My operation is faster and tidier than any snow-blower or angle blade operation. Not bragging, just my 2 cents. I use my 1025r every day attending to my 3 acre park. I made many trails with my box-blade and even dug a large pond. Great job bro. I am ordering a front hoe bucket today and I told them I saw it on TTWT!

I have 54" blower on 1025r for 4 years now. It is good for New England. Snow back in the face with high wind is rough. My poor man solution is snow mobile helmet. With a good ski jacket and pants, everyone has in New England anyway, it is surprisingly comfortable and warm. Someday, a cab will be preferred in retirement, but for now the helmet is fine.

I agree the Artillion products are great! I got my 54 inch snow plow when I got my 1025r in January 2018. I put on the wings and hard plastic blade. Then never got to use it until our recent snow event. We got about 10 inches. Plow worked great. Ten inches of snow is a lot for this tractor, but it handled it well. I will likely get tire chains to help with deep snow, but I made it through this event without them.
@gregs6813
@gregs6813 5 жыл бұрын
If your tractor has R4 tires, you might consider grooving them before buying expensive chains. Many owners of SCUTS find that grooving gives them the extra needed traction. If this isn't enough for your circumstances, you can always add chains later.

I have had those wings for 3 years now also, and I just wanted to let anyone thinking about purchasing them, they are great! No wear at all, after 3 years, and extend/protect the outside edges of your blade when plowing. Definitely recommend them.

Tim, I live in the snow belt of NY, I originally had a rear blade on my 1025R because it was a very economical option and it worked great but I got tired of always having to look backwards. This year I upgraded to the new Frontier AF10F loader mounted plow. It works great and would appear to have the same result as your new setup, but I do not have power angle, only manual. One thing I did notice that you may not like is the tilt your plow sits at, my plow is set so that I can use the leveling gauge on the loader (at the same position as it would be for the bucket) to know when the plow is level, this also allows me to tilt the plow up when pushing up a pile. So far this year we have already have quite a few snows and being able to get that upward tilt is definitely helpful... a little advice from one tractor owner to another

Adam Wiedor I’m looking at getting the AF10F. I already have skid shoes from my previous plow. Does the AF10F still have the mounts welded on if you don’t order the skid shoes?
@awiedor1525
@awiedor1525 5 жыл бұрын
@@tomtesmer3603 Yes, the AF10F has welded on shoe mounts. If your talking about your previous plow as being the JD Front Blade, the shoes are different. The shoes on the AF10F have a ~1in piece of round stock as the tab where the front blade is bar stock. I AF10F comes with steel shoes, and my dealer as well as the website did/does offer the AF10F without the steel shoes. You can order Urethane shoes for some extra $$ but the steel seems to me to be a mandatory option. I also don't even use my shoes, my driveway is asphalt, I lean the plow down so the blade is only on the ground and not the shoes. I like getting all the snow off so that the sun can hit the driveway so I don't ice up. Hope that helps

I drove a forklift for 37 years and to take off forks we would slide them to center put forks almost to the ground and in the back sit a 4x4 under at bend off they come same way to put on. Of course our forks were 6 inches across and almost 6 feet long. So many were damaged from only using one at a time. They are pretty soft material. Years ago they would drill a hole in the end for moving parts on wheeled skids.

Looks really nice. I use a Skid Steer to 3 Point Attachment Adapter to mount a 7' grader blade on my front end loader frame. Had a buddy weld a custom set of plow shoe mounts to the back of the blade, that way I can clear snow off the gravel lane too. It rides a little farther away from the loader frame, which is not ideal, but my rig allows me to push snow with an angled blade, or I can turn the blade around completely and pull snow backwards. It works pretty well.
@jakeschisler7525
@jakeschisler7525 5 жыл бұрын
During winter time plowing the company either made or bought plows that the forks would slide into and most blades were fixed at an angle. One blade was over 8 feet wide and had a heavy chunk of steel welded in not to fall out. Our forklifts had cabs with heaters to stay warm. I plowed many hours since I was senior man on the job. Only bad time plowing was around the railroad crossings hit it just right and stopped on a dime. Lol

As a snowblower owner, I can say that the 54" snowblower on my 1026r does a pretty good job and works really quick. In my case, it's faster and overall better than a plow because the only places we can push piles cause problems with getting in and out of our driveway, making it difficult to see cross-traffic. It also makes it take much longer for all the snow to melt, in the spring time. With the snowblower, I can put the snow exactly where I want it; throwing the snow up to 50' into the yard (depending on the type and amount of snow). We just had 12-15" of moderately wet/fine snow here in MN, and it handled it with no problem. The only time I had to slow down due to engine load was when I got to the end of the driveway where the road plow left a huge row of packed snow, but it still handled that quite well. The rest of the time I could move at about 1/2 to 3/4 speed in low gear with a full bite. Cleaned our driveway in about 20-30 min. With the bucket, it would have taken over an hour. A blade "might" have been faster, but the piles would have been a huge issue; and with the blower, there are virtually no piles; though I could make some if I wanted to, by angling the chute down. A cab would be very nice, but if you're smart with your chute, it shouldn't be a major problem (though we do have very little wind due to the trees). Additionally, I don't need any rear ballast for the tractor to be stable and safe, and with 4wd, I have no issues with traction like I did with the loader and backhoe/ballast box. I do recommend getting the extra chute pitch mechanism, as it would help a lot more with keeping the snow out of your face and where you want it, vs setting it and hoping it's high enough for the majority of your work (like I do). Anyway, just my experience with the snowblower.

Uh oh. I offended the snow blower crowd! Just kidding. I’d love a snowblower if we had much snow. I had a walk behind blower before Johnny. It worked very well. I even thought about getting a blower even though we do not need it!
@Zurar
@Zurar 5 жыл бұрын
Lol, nah. Not offended at all... just trying to give some advice for those looking at one, since you can't give them your own experience (at least with a Johnny mounted one)... Probably doesn't help I have a bad habit of trying to be very thorough in my explanations and end up writing small books to describe things. Anyway, for lesser amounts of snow, I can definitely agree that the blower is more or less a waste of money; but when you can get 8"+ in a single storm, with multiple storms a winter capable of that, the blower tends to win out due to the fact you don't have piles that build up to the point you have to have them removed if you don't push them far enough back, at the start. Frozen banks are hard to move, even with a loader; near impossible with a blade on the quick-hitch. For places that typically only get a dusting (2" or less) you actually are probably best off with a power-broom to get the surface even cleaner than both a blower or plow; something I'm thinking I'll get to compliment my blower. Blades do tend to dig into the ground more, though... even with properly adjusted skids, since the skids ride behind the cutting edge. All you have to do is start pushing up a sudden incline (or suddenly level out while pushing down one) and a blade can dig in. On a blower, the skids run alongside the pickup edge, so as long as they're adjusted right, it shouldn't do anything but skim high-spots. Basically though, if you get lots of snow and piles are a problem, get a blower; otherwise a blade or broom should be fine. I'm actually kind of surprised you don't have the broom attachment! Should get one for your lighter snow jobs and cleaning the driveway of debris the rest of the time!
@TractorTimewithTim
@TractorTimewithTim 5 жыл бұрын
Someone else mentioned a broom. Maybe someday. Would be fun to play with!
@Zurar
@Zurar 5 жыл бұрын
I should probably add that I have absolutely no added weight, no ballast (rear or otherwise), and no chains on my 1026r when using my blower. Didn't even fill the tires; and traction hasn't been a problem with 4wd and the blower, as the blower puts weight on the front for steering, even while in float.

Great video Tim. Why I like your stuff, you always have something going on. For people that like to use old stuff laying around, Hay Spear sells The unique to Deere connectors that are on the back of your bucket, and can be welded to a blank skid steer plate allowing it to attach to your loader arms. Put what ever you on the front of the plate. Make a boom, attach and old junk plow from a pickup truck???? Blank plates are cheap, 150 or so. Ha ha, we get snow in the NE but us older guys can't play in it as long as we once could. Fingers and feet are the first to go, I don't care what glove or boot it is.

I live in Minnesota and have the X738 with a CTC front end loader and 3 point hitch. I clear snow and ice from over 1/4 mile of driveway with no issues using no chains only my heavy hitch with 6 weights (40 lb.). I wish I had gotten the 1025 instead for the additional power and separate controls for the 3 point but it does the job exceedingly well. JD makes very capable equipment. My setup is much better than my other JD tractor (X300) with snow blower attached. I agree that the blower is my last choice for moving snow. It just puts too much in the air blowing into the operator and back onto areas already cleared.

Have you tried the Frontier JD blade? I know it is manual tilt but much more reasonably priced and the extra height clearance is a big one for the subcompact. Just curious what your thoughts are, I am still undecided.

Hey Tim when is the new 1025R coming ? And Tim not sure the hoses are safe on top of the mount like that i would get a Hanger of some sort,, and mount right under where you have them laying now.. or at the least get some hose armor to go on the hoses so it doesn’t rub threw the hoses from vibration or motion when you curl... just a idea buddy ,,not trying to be a nosey body or anything..

If any function is important and practical on a plow blade and that’s power angling. I also like a heavy rubberized semi circled top guard to let snow curl back down to the blade that helps on a longer push, it’s also helpful on pavement I don’t like it however on a gravel driveway I like better vision limiting debris into the piles.

I’m n the sabe boat as you on the size I’m leaning 2038 but I Found a few year old 3320 for a deal low hours and a few extra attachments it’s the next step up size wise as a 2038 so I dunno

I'm planning on starting a company in a couple of years. But first I need to get my Tractor Driving License here in Finland. (it is so now here that you need a separate card if you want to drive a tractor on public roads if you didn't get your driving license before some year). I've been looking at a older Ford that's in good shape and all, and it's larger then Johnny and it has a cab. It also has a loader, I'm planning on getting a loader blade for it because of the ability to push snow in a larger pile. Any opinions?Sorry if this is harder to read and is wrote clumsy.

I would love to see a review of the Frontier 60" Front Blade (AF10F). Looking at buying a 2025R or a 1025R in the near future. This Blade looks like the same cost as the 54" Snow Blade and I believe it is a quick connect setup. for me that would be ideal use the Blade and if needed swap out to the FEL to move snow.

Hi Tim, As usual- great, informative video! I have a general fitment question. I own a 1025r (and love it), but I may move to a place with much more snow and acreage. I may move uo to 3 series (maybe 3046 with cab), at that point. I'm trying to buy attachments that will accomidate both size loaders. For instance, I bought a Titan forklift attachment that had a second set of mounting pins built onto the fork frame. It fits perfectly on my 1025r, hasn't been tested on the 3046. I really love loader mounted attachments- 2 pins and 2 hoses and I'm back to work! Do I need this dual pin configuration for the ability to use attachments on the 1 series and 3 series? Is there another work around (like an adapter)? Any words of wisdom are greatly appreciated! Happy New Year Jeff
@TractorTimewithTim
@TractorTimewithTim 5 жыл бұрын
Well, first, you didn't need the second set of pins on your forks. ...the 1,2, and 3 series have exactly the same loader connections. That set of forks will be WAY too heavy for your 1-series. So, overall, you are over-thinking. Loader quick attach is fully compatible between 1 and 3 series. I recommend returning the forks if you can, and buying the lightweight but strong Artillian forks. They will work beautifully on both tractors. You can then upgrade to the grapple module and other extensions which will work on both tractors.

Now, with the CTA grapple, it will fit, no question. However, it is not the strongest grapple ever, so you might crinkle it up with the stronger hydraulics of the 3 series!
