The hardest part of learning a song from Marty is sitting through the y-tube adds telling me I can't learn a song properly from you-tube. I have come a very long way with the guitar and Marty has largely been my cornerstone. Gracias Amigo!

Right? I owe almost everything I know about guitar and music theory in general to the great folks around the world who share their knowledge on KZbin. You won't get any constructive feedback from KZbin videos, sure, but if you're diligent and honest with yourself, you can very easily identify your own weaknesses and begin working to fix them with the help of the nearly endless well of knowledge here on this platform.

Marty. I’ve been playing guitar for 50 years. I’m competent at chords, most finger picking and I have (and still do) play in bands, mostly as singer/guitar - although I do also play piano/drums and trumpet (I play in a full orchestra on cornet too). Okay.... I have a 27yr old son who is a very competent lead guitarist and I’ve always been envious, especially since I taught him his first few chords! Point is, I finally decided to try and break through the guitar comfort ceiling which I’ve lived under for decades, and your videos have been awesome in helping me stretch and challenge my abilities. Good news is, thanks to you it’s working! Lots of practice of course, but a new found desire to be more accomplished. Thank you! Simon, Nottingham, UK.

I played guitar for 13 years, got carpal tunnel syndrome real bad and put the guitar down. That was 15 years ago. Last year I had the surgery for the carpal tunnel in my hands. My wife and child got me a free guitar from a friend last summer 2019. Been playing two hours a day since! :) After the spark was relit, I have bought a nice Breedlove acoustic electric, a Ukulele, a bass and about to grab a Mexican Strat. After picking all this back up, I realized that I didn't know how to play guitar like I thought I did lol. Anyways, just a short story for ya, because I check your KZbin pretty much everyday, for another song idea, scale or chord idea. Thanks for doing what you do Marty, it's helped me progress quite a bit. Again thanks, and well wishes for you and yours!

@@huss2600 I wouldn't say this is an easy one for a beginner - I would describe myself as an amateur guitarist, somewhere between the campfire and an open mic night at a local bar! Now after playing a few months I have gotten a grasp on the basic chords and strum patterns and I can pick up country and worship songs within 15 minutes. I love that you always leave stuff out so that we can never learn the whole song and yet play that part without teaching us. So wonderfull

And then with eyes closed. Great tutorial. Singing this and playing same time is real hard. Tracy got so much emotion on this song...

I think the bridge part was really bad explained. The intro was nice, though :)

@@geroheller505 can you tab it out? Ive been rewatching that point in the video for 20 minutes trying to figure it out
@geroheller5054 жыл бұрын
@@teddyrooseveltguy ok so you are on the weird shape after de G ( the one that looks like a G/B on the 7th fret counting from the capo). you play the strings A and B at the same time once and then you slide the whole shape two frets up, picking only the B string. Then, you slide the shape back to the 7th fret picking the B string again, and there you have it

Anyone else find it hilarious when he mixes the lyrics of the song with the chord letters, and sings kinda in tune? Thank you Marty for everything

While the riff was explained great it's very strange that you've missed the whole part of the intro (six bar, 0:13-0:15 of the original recording: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eqjVeaqQrquBba8 It's a very cool part, it's a pity that you've missed it. You've got a great channel anyway)

Hey Marty, I am going through loads of your tutorials and when I found the ones at my level, I watch them over and over. Thank you for bringing guitar lessons to the world, I love this track from the moment it was released. We are in the midst of so much uncertainty, this is therapy, also I now listen to music differently since picking the guitar last year.
