Tracy Lawrence reflects on 30 years in Country Music and his biggest hit that didn't go to number 1!

Tracy Lawrence has been in country music for 30 years. He was signed to a record deal just seven months after coming to Nashville, but after being mugged and shot four times, he almost didn't get his chance to see his music released.
I've known Tracy for over 18 years and in that time he has continued to build an incredible discography including 18 number one hits but he isn't slowing down.

Yes, I agree 100%! It’s so sad. We just lost a awesome young man to suicide in our family. He took his life after Church on 3/21/21. Preston was only 17. So tragic.

Tracey Lawrence is my top favorite country singer of all time. True talent from his younger days till today. Still great! Tracey's music really spoke to me the last 20 years. I remember watching them play at a small bar in Allentown PA when find out who your friends are was #1 hit. They rocked that place! I hope that one day I will be happy to meet him and get a picture!

The 90's were the best times and I listened to tracy constantly, loved him and went to see him in Charlotte nc when alibis was coming out. Loved all the songs and know all the words. Still love you tracy

I too moved to Nashville in July of 1990. I'm not a musician but chose to move there to try to start our lives over after the sudden death of our young daughter in Illinios. I was hired to help start a new delivery business. The same week Tracy was shot in the Shoneys parking lot I had my brand new delivery van stolen about two blocks from that same location. That was a very dangerous time in that area. I think I have finally figured out why I'm still mad. I never really looked at my daughters death as an anger issue for me. Thanks for the advice Tracy.

He's right about taking care of the mental trauma. The pandemic has been hard on all, but for me the staying home etc is nothing new. Being in severe pain, I'm home 99% of the time. I don't know how the younger generation is able to get through. Truly thankful he didn't give up. I absolutely love his voice, his music, the way he pronounces his words. He's an original & I'm hoping he's around for many more years.

Boy, he was the most authentic and the greatest back in the early 90s. I bought several of his cassette tapes and played in cars that used to have players. Now we probably don't even have a cassette player anymore. The song where she leaves him a message on the answering machine was just fantastic! "(Was that a tear I heard in her voice?) Then I had heard he had gotten into some trouble and lost track of him. Now clearly he has aged into his late fifties like Mark Chesnutt who was equally as good. Country music has almost disappeared from mass media because of royality rights issues as the money has been bled out of the industry.

Wow!! Anyone who knows me knows Tracy Lawrence was my most favorite singer of my lifetime! I have another most favorite. I just know you are talking about Morgan Wallen. I’m begging you, please reach out to Him! Help him. He is going to go down in history I just know it. And I’ve said so many time he reminds me of you so much. And if it’s even possible I just know he needs to re cut sticks and stones or today’s lonely fool. He will make you even more millions and it sounds like you can get him on the right track.
