I wonder if her father's ghost will appear at all in WoW... I kind of think he might... Could potentially even be made into a raid boss which I think would be cool... Just one of those crazed characters who sees everyone as an enemy or is maybe forced to serve Azshara or something... Perhaps he maybe struck a deal with Azshara kinda like Azshara made with the Legion and was just misled thinking he'd just get to kill more orcs... Maybe he becomes like Davy Jones from Pirates of The Carribean xD Daelin "Jones" Proudmoore... Or he maybe could just be involved with some questline for the Alliance... Or alternatively, maybe the ghost helps rescue the day with some other raid boss... There's a lot of potential there and it's not like ghostly sailors don't exist in multiple zones in WoW...

I imagine that is a song that was written by the Kul'tiran's after the end of Warcraft III The Frozen Throne where all the events around Theramore happened, since technically Jaina did commit treason and could possibly be considered responsible for Patricide as she let Rexar and his party into Theramore to kill her father because he refused to even consider that the Horde could be peaceful. With how the story is headed... he'd be happy that Jaina is on the Warpath in his ship.

I love the imagery of Daelin as Charon, the ferryman of the underworld in greek mythology. So there's A LOT of symbolism in this video of Jaina. First off is the song: The song is made by some of the surviving Kul'Tiran marines after the battle of Tiragarde keep and the sinking of the Kul'tiras navy after Jaina sided with Thrall against her father. The video is filled with symbols. First we have Jaina picking up her fathers necklace of the Kul'tiras symbol. Which she then gives backs to her father for him to lead her to his ship. That she raises. The video is about Jaina now seeing the horde as her father did. All throughout the story of Warcraft, Jaina has tried to mediate between the horde and the Alliance, in the hope that they could work together to defeat their common foes. The burning Legion, The Lich King (which happens to be her own first love turned villain, Arthas) and the old gods. When Garrosh ordered the attack on Theramore, she blamed Garrosh, but her faith in the horde was put into question. When Garrosh ordered the Sunreaves to attack Dalaran and ultimately kill Ronin, her last bit of trust vaporized. She now saw the horde the same way her father did. And we have to remember that her father was a veteran of the second war. Having experienced the horde's unexpected invasion and destruction of Stormwind and the murder of the noble king Llane. He had first hand seen the brutality and merciless behavior of the demon fueled horde. He had no trust of a horde that killed many of his friends and allies. And he was fully expecting the horde to once again return to old form and start rampaging throughout the world. Especially if given time to prepare. Jaina has now been victim to the same ferocity and underhanded attacks that her father saw. So she honors her father, and his belief that horde can't be trusted, by raising his ship and using it to rally the Kul'tiras navy to fight along side the Alliance to end the horde once and for all.
@DarkMatter133776 жыл бұрын
This story arch has alot to do with the warcraft 3 story of her father admiral proudmore imo. Her father spent his life hunting down orcs and other "untrustworthy non humans" and jaina had sided with thrall against him trying to see the good in the newly founded horde. Having never understood his deep and biased hatred of the orcs she allied herself with thrall and defeated her father. However after the many events in the world of warcraft most especially the betrayal against theramore she is slowly become her father. A manifestation of Human vengeance against the horde. And that symbol was her father's symbol, the anchor. I believe that boat may have been her fathers?
@Ariaelyne6 жыл бұрын
Technically the anchor is the symbol of Kul Tiras, since he was the Lord Admiral
@Anergyne6 жыл бұрын

That nonsense. She knew why her father hated the Horde. He hated them because he saw the destruction of SW in the second war and the Horde killing thousands over thousands of civilians, including his own son. I think you mixed up Dealin Proudmoore with Garithos. The only mistake he made was not being able to look past his hatred for the Orcs (But in the end he was right since the Horde nukes Theramore).

In short, she aided Rexxar, Vol'jin and Chen take out her own father. Admiral Proudmore insisted on continuing the conflict against Thrall's new horde, but Jaine knew that with Thrall at the helm things could be good, so to avoid further blodshed and war she chose to stand aside and let Thrall's Champions take out her dad. This video is about her reflecting on her past choices and now seeing all that has happened because of them. This is her guilt talking. The spectre paddling her boat is her father, finally finding "peace" as she finally comes to the same conclusion as he did so long ago; the Horde needs to die, no matter who's in charge.

From the perspective of the Horde, Daelin was an old racist who refused to leave them alone after they'd moved across the world and started a new life, and killing him was a necessary evil to preserve the peace. From the perspective of the Kul Tirans, he was a national hero who went to rescue his daughter and countrymen from the group that had once invaded his world and still went by the same name, with a similar command structure, and his death was martyrdom and a tragedy their country has never recovered from. War, ladies and gentlemen.

"Beware, beware the Daughter of the Sea." "Beware," I heard him cry. His words carried upon the ocean breeze, As he sank beneath the tide. Those blood-soaked shores of Kalimdor, Where sailors fought and died. The admiral fell at Theramore, because she left his side. Why this? Why this oh Daughter of the Sea? Why this? Did you forget your seaside days? Always the pride of our nation's eyes, How could she go astray? When she did flee across the ocean deep, the admiral followed west. What else but sail to save a daughter's life, and pray she still drew breath? But there he found on the Western shores, Enemies 'on the rise! But when he faced those savage foes His daughter stood aside. Buried deep beneath the waves, Betrayed by family. To his nation, with his last breath, cried, "Beware the Daughter of the Sea."

I think i remember that the ship of Admiral Proudmoore got under fire and sunk when the orcs got their bloodlust back (while arriving in Kalimdor). The death of Admiral Proudmoore was therefore inflicted because Jaina believed in Peace and turned away so Thrall and the Admiral (yes, I forgot the name) fight until death. That´s why Thrall and Jaina got so well along until the "Theramore Firework Event". - Correct me if somethings wrong.

She picks up her father's pendant to pay the boatman to cross the river Styx. They follow the trail of spirits to bring them to the final resting place of the boat, which explains why they were following the ghostship, the last voyage of his boat. That was all probably in her hear, but in a game with Warlocks and Death Knights and Necromancers you always have to really wonder what is and isnt happening. But the part where she raises her father's ship is real and it will come into play later in the story.

Thrall and Garoshs father was once Jainas comrades and allys in war... But her father did not accept it and went to war with the horde... He started a huge battle... But when it came to choose sides Jaine stood with Thrall and Hellscream against her father. Later though when Garosh attacked her city she became very anti horde even though Garosh father and Thrall were once her comrades and allys.... So I think the song is about her seeking redemption. Longer story from the golden days of warcraft 3 and a quite awesome one.

He basically explains (not quoting exactly), it's when her dad went to go and attack the Horde she was in line with to take down Archimonde (Mount Hyjal raid), didn't know they were working together and Jaina just stood aside. It's a "folk" song cuz most pirate cultures pass songs around like that, and I got the impression it's "her people" singing it about her. Hope that sheds some light, but yeah Nobel explains it so much better.

The female singer is Laura Bailey, Jainas voice actress by the way. She is awesome!
@twilightgryphon6 жыл бұрын
OK Panzer a few answers to your questions: 1 - That is Laura Bailey, the voice actress for Jaina actually singing. (If you want more of her singing play the female boss character with her voice selected in Saint's Row 3&4) 2 - The boatman is the ghost of her father. 3 - Back when Jaina still believed in peace between the Alliance and the Horde she helped Thrall fight against her father who had come to Kalimdor in order to try and wipe out the Horde, which would have sparked another war between the factions. (This story btw comes from the Rexxar RPG campaign from Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos) 4 - Jaina did not actively take up arms against her father but she didn't stop Thrall and Rexxar as they led a campaign to stop Proudmoore. So the basic summation of what we can for sure take away from this is that Jaina is haunted by her past of letting her father die in the futile effort to garner a lasting peace between the Alliance and the Horde. She's haunted by the ghost of her father who had warned her when she was younger that there could never be peace with the Horde, and regrets now not having listened to him and helped him. She's an outcast and a criminal in the eyes of her people, as the song has the line telling his homeland "Beware the Daughter of the Sea" indicating her. So there you go, hope that helps. A little information for your as you put it ADHD squirrel brain and if you can't retain it, you can always come back here and look it up again. :)

Hello. There are several hints of what this video is about. (listen to the lyrics carefully).. The necklace around the sword is the same necklace on the back of the ghost ship" her father was wearing the necklace when he died during the first or second war." During the scene with the red eyed horde, you will notice a character stabbed, that is Jainas' father. She stood by hoping for peace, and be-trade her father as he continue to rage war with the horde; thus she was be-trade and abandoned by her family, after she was blamed for her fathers death. Jaina. (the daughter of the sea) sailed to raise her fathers ship and hope to be "forgiven" and has accepted she is the daughter of the sea" and she is finally listening to her father..."I'm listening now, father!" That is the ghost of her father standing behind her.

For context, it seems those are the ruins of Theramore at the begining. The ghost seems to be Jaina's father, Admiral Daelin Proudmoore, former ruler of Kul'Tiras, which died at the hand of the Horde led by Rexxar during the Third War. He had a strong hate for the orcs, fueled by the death of his son Derek at the hands of the dragon raiders. Jaina being a peace lover back then, allied with the orcs against her own father, convinced that his hate and need for revenge would only lead to more needless deaths.

The daughter of the sea is indeed a folk song sung by the folk of kul'tiras about jaina after she let her father admiral daelin proudmoore die at the hands of thrall and rexxar because she simply stepped aside and even helped. And the ship is most likely a ghost ship like the flying dutchman just without the ghosts, I reckon that in BfA she will have it rebuilt and used as a massive destroyer ship for the alliance fleet. I am a massive lore nerd so I am taking an educated guess, and damnit panser that is not what ADHD is!

That was sung in the form of a sea shanty (a song that is sung in meter also how epic poems such as the Iliad are sung ), sailors sing sea shanty's upon the sea to recount their tales. It was mind blowing. The ferryman was a depiction of Charon who ferry's people into the underworld across the river styx. You have to pay the ferryman to cross the river Styx, Jaina paid with that locket, a symbol of her people's lives whom she betrayed. As a latin buff this literally blew my mind. The imagery was very deep when she rose her father's ship from the ocean and took over as it's captain she is saying she was the one who was wrong, and her father's hatred of the horde was correct all this time, she is coming for the Horde and she is PISSED. Who is she going to tangle with though? Thrall? Rexxar? Sylvanas? .

Panzer...The song describes what a lot of Veterans of war feel, when they've made it home when many of their comrades did not. It's called survivor's guilt. Guilt at her siding with the Horde...Guilt at Arthas fall from the Light...Guilt that she survived Theramore when so many that she cared for did not. Jaina has a surfeit of guilt...some of it rightly so. It is no wonder that the shanty is a haunting melody. The directors, musicians, vocalists, and the visual artists did an extraordinary job of conveying Jaina Proudmoore's emotions.

I remember that in Warcraft 3 founding of Durotar campaign Rexxar commented that he had seem the crest on the soldier before, that's because during the second invasion he was with Grom hellscream and fought at the Dark Portal against the alliance forces. The Kul Tiran forces were still loyal member of the alliance back than. I keep forgetting that the characters like Genn and Rexxer and Saurfang are all veterans of the first Orcish invasion. It is natural for them to harbor strong distrust for the other side. Characters like Jaina did not experience first hand the horrors of the first and second war so it was natural for her to want to help preserve the new horde and side with thrall. But eventually as she grew and experienced more wars and betrayals, she became like her father. Even to the point of raising her father's flagship, such a symbol for the revenge of Daelin, and her daughter succeeding his will and war.

That was her father's ship. The song is likely a folk song that the Kul'Tirans sing about her "betraying" her father in Warcraft 3. For me, the video says to me that she has come to terms with her past and how she is viewed and that she regrets the choice she made back then. And that last line means that Jaina is not taking shit for anybody anymore. You get in her way? She will fuck you up. I really hope they play on that in BFA because that would be amazing.

This is what blizzard is missing. We need more lore heavy and emotional moments that make you get chills. It gives you a connection to the world.

Its basically a kultiran folk song. The song isnt directed at the audience but more like an "in-universe" kinda song. I like the Design Choice on that

this video really gives you a deep view on Jaina's tortured psyche as she goes by the theramore ruins and the ghosts of her past she knows its all her fault for not listening to his father's warning. but She is listening now

I'd also point out that she isn't flexing any dark powers/undead powers here. She's a mage, water manipulation is within the power range. The lyrics were the tale of Jaina and how those who followed her father see her actions. Standing aside and letting the horde strike him down rather than killing the Horde at its birth after WC3. Her lyrics were her hearing the tale and then responding/owning it as her past. Very moving, very well done, lyrics/lore/animation were all top knotch.

She is a mage from Kul Tiras, im assuming she had picked up some tide magic like the tide sages and raising a ship wouldnt be far off from what they do.

For people who happen to not have sound while watching this: Every time the art hints to an intense sceen insert a line of useless gibberish over the song and whats actually happening. If there was any immersion to begin with destroy it completely by saying "YIKES" or "UHHHHH" every time something happens. Or nothing at all.

Think of it as a nautical vision quest, she was dealing with her inner demons and all the crap she just stood aside and let happen and the ship at the end was the end of her vision and putting us back into reality and seeing her as a new Jaina that is ready to fight she isn’t afraid anymore.

Actually this is more of Jaina self reflection. It merely shows through the song and imagery her thoughts about events leading up to and past the loss at Theramore, and the direction she is now headed. Please watch a couple of times, once just to listen to the words of song (again the song is self reflection of what Jaina thinks of herself). Have to say extremely well done, folk song is old mariner appropriate and still framing animation drives home the impact. As we all expected after the fall of Theramore, this is Jaina statement that if the Alliance doesn't back a war with the Horde, she will do it on her own.

Jaina is a really great character. I still remember all the help she gave the horde during a time when they had few allies in their new home. And now she regrets it deeply, and I don't really blame her.

This is awfully similar to how the old gods manipulate people, encouraging hate, sorrow and sadness, eventually leading to madness. (My comment is referring to how Yogg-Saron manipulated Loken in Chronicles V1)

Over on the World of Warcraft forums, people are saying Jaina has a connection to the dead thanks to her prior relationship with Arthas. That being said, if Blizzard is planning to turn Jaina into the Lich Queen, I got some news...Hearthstone already tried that experiment, and it ended with Ben Brode's resignation.

That necklace belonged to Admiral Daelin Proudmoore. That was his sword also I believe. That song is a song created by the Kul Tirans about Jaina betraying her father...it is meant to be derogatory towards her.
@blackblade990096 жыл бұрын
It is the Proudmoore, Admiral Daelin Proudmoore's personal and flagship, the song is called a shanty a song of the sea (fitting given bfa is a very sea based expac), the necklace is the good Admiral's, and to be fair the song has right to be haunting and foreboding given that pretty much anywhere Jaina shows up death will follow her...

“That was some weird imagery. It almost looked like she got impaled by it.” - Panser My take on that imagery is that at that point Jaina is simultaneously raising the ship from both the depths of the ocean, and the depths of her own heart.

Blizzard has spent a lot of thought over the details. For example, the figurehead of the raised ship has a depiction of the anchor necklace with the pendant upside down. Jaina the betrayer? All in all, this is top drawer entertainment, masterfully executed. The Blizzard team should be very proud of this one!

@farseermatt75646 жыл бұрын
so someone correct me if im wrong, but - STORY TIME :P much like the lion is to House Wrynn of Stormwind, the Anchor is to House Proudmoore of Kul tiras, though i cannot find anywhere of the name of grand admiral Daelin's ship, Kul tiras was the largest navy for Lordaeron. After Daelins death, the city sort of fell silent. Daelin wanted to kill every horde and anyone allied with the horde (taurens, trolls ect...) which of course, was his downfall, struck down by Rexxar at Theramore (though i still hear people say thrall did it, but it was definitely Rexxar). Most of this doesn't explain any bit of the video, but i certainly hope it explains jaina's last spoken line "I am now listening.... Father" and then his ghost disappears. which i am not 100% sure which way it leads, it either means that daelin has forgiven Jaina for letting his death be in vain. or it means she had finally let go of the sin of her fathers death, and is now ready to do what her father told her to do long ago.

It's the Proudmore ship, the symbol on it (although probably very common in ships) is similar to his necklace.
