Jessie owens runs like a robot amazing how fast he was running like that i can't imagine how much faster he would be with modern training and techniques
@oluwaponlekudehinbu3100
@oluwaponlekudehinbu3100 2 жыл бұрын
Jesse's technique was almost a 100 years ahead of its time. His robot likeness meant he didn't dissipate too much lateral energy, the way other sprinters of his time did. Modern sprinters have learned to maintain their form even when lactic acid build up tries to force them otherwise. Owens is remarkable because he did this even before we understood the science behind it

@@Yrledits Some people appear to have unusual technique yet perform extraordinarily, Michael Johnson for example. You often hear the quip "imagine how good he'd be if he could run correctly". The (unusual) style they have developed works so well for them that they have become elite in their field. Teaching them to run like everyone else may actually be a hindrance to these particular athletes

sprinting mechanics are dependent one the athletes anatomy/physique and strength. that's why we always see different mechanics/styles. For example Oblique Seville and Joe Fanbulleh have very different mechanics probably because of their different body structure. Take Su vs Lyles. they look so much different.

OMG...Jesse Owens looked like he was floating on air... Bob Hayes's form was "rocky" but still amazing... He was so strong... He won the 100 in the 1964 Olympics from Lane 1 on a muddy sender track... WOW... Carl Lewis's running style looked silky smooth and effortless to me... And it's truly amazing to watch Yohan Blake's compact running style. He has posted some amazing times in the 100... If Usain Bolt wasn't around he would hold the records in the 100 and 200... All of the guys mentioned are amazing athletes ... A GREAT VIDEO...

In 9 seasons from 2008 to 2016, Usain Bolt was the undisputed and untouchable ruler of the sprint disciplines. At 3 Olympic Games and 4 World Championships that took place during that period, he won 6 gold medals in 100 m, 7 gold medals in 200 m, 7 gold medals in 4 x 100 m - a total of 20 gold medals, he is the owner of the current incredible world records in 100 m, 200 m and 4 x 100 m, he broke other people's and his own world records 6 times - achievements that no one has ever had and I doubt that anyone will ever have in the future. Usain Bolt is simply the greatest and best athlete of all time.

@@militantessayons Jesse Owens wasn't the first black athlete by any stretch. Looking only at the 100m event, Harry Edward won bronze in the 1920 Olympics, Jack London won silver in the 1928 Olympics, and Eddie Tolan and Ralph Metcalfe won gold and silver in the 1932 Olympics. Of course Jesse Owens was a legendary athlete, winning 4 golds in the 1936 Olympics and setting many world records.

There are two drastically approach schools. After the 60's you can observe a shift between Europeans and Africans sprinters (Africans being trained in Europe often) and North American and Jamaican (carribeans) runners. Euro runners rely on form, while Americans/Jamaicans runners are Power runners . Marcel Jacobs tends to emulate American runners. Power runners tend to dominate.

Carl Lewis had perfect technique and was on drugs yet Bolt obliterated him in terms of times he could run That's probably why Lewis made those comments to discredit Bolt by claiming Bolt was on drugs He just couldn't accept that Bolt was a naturally better athlete

If every sprinter in their prime had the benefit of modern training/technique, modern footwear and modern tracks, I have this arguable proposition that Bob Hayes would have been the fastest human of all times. He was a monster. Also Calvin Smith, despite his beautiful form, would have done better if he didn't tilt his head backward. Asafa (when not under pressure) Carl Lewis (ignoring his poor start) and Justin Gatlin probably have the best technique of all sprinters

imho there must be a more efficient way to run These champions have super bodies There was an intalian runner not tall not particularly powerful and nevertheless able to win a gold medal on 200 meters at Olympics He was Pietro Mennea My feeling is the most of his performance was due to the weird but clearly effective way of running I would like to see a Bolt running with that style Moreover he seemed to run quite fast without big effort His style of running was very peculiar

C.Smith was a talented athlete indeed - a world record holder on 100 & 2x world champion on 200. But his running style could have been better in my oinion.
