stuff like this makes me so interested in seeing the evolution of what is considered the bible today. it was eye opening for me as a 20 year old in college when i took a class on the bible in my college and had a baptist minister essentially say the bible is mostly lies and spent the next semester explaining how and why. i wish more christians were capable of this introspection and criticism and doubt and were able to look at those around them and see them for who they really are. Not the enemy, not an abomination, not sinful. Just another person who likely wants the same thing they do. To be loved and to have a connection and to have a life that means something.

Took several classes in college about religions, the Bible, Islam, Judaism. Nothing makes you more of an atheist than when you actually look at the history, the what and the why and facts behind the religions. Common sense tells me that if some divine being was the one writing these books they’d be perfect, undeniable and not contradictory. Yet all we find in these religious texts is very much humanity at its worst- racism, sexism, anti-women, anti-gay. If there was an all loving divine being he or she certainly wouldn’t try to alienate a group with hate but bring humanity together.

@coolguy1127 Someone on reddit posted this question about why God allows abuse like sexual abuse, physical abuse and such and one of the responses was because we have to suffer and be molded by our pain to be who God wants us to be. It is just absolutely batshit crazy. God is perfect because we must suffer to worship him and somehow HIS mistakes are our problem and we must bend to his will and abuse. It is insanity. I don't know how I hung on to Christianity as long as I did but now I am anything and everything else I can. People know that something is fundamentally wrong with the church and Watts steps in, respected, smart sounding, as if he has studied Tao and Buhdda, and various sutras (as if we peasants have not). He offers a condescending view as if what you believe is stupid, but it's your choice to believe it. He stumbled on a truth, but only a partial truth which he masquerades as, in fact, the truth. The bible says Jesus was sent to save us and he is the word of God and the word became flesh and the word of God, was God. John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 1:1-14 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. 4 In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome[a] it. 6 There was a man sent from God whose name was John. 7 He came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that through him all might believe. 8 He himself was not the light; he came only as a witness to the light. 9 The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world. 10 He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. 11 He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. 12 Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God- 13 children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God. 14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

No it isn't. Christianity has a basis in fact. The New Testament is an historically reliable document in which eye witnesses to the events it reports documented them within living memory of other eye witnesses. It makes very specific and accurate prophecies about specific events and although written by human hands, it claims Divine inspiration. We know a lot more than people want to admit. Saying we don't is an excuse really.

A segment from 'Saved by the Light of the Buddha Within'... My new understandings of what many call 'God -The Holy Spirit' - resulting from some of the extraordinary ongoing after-effects relating to my NDE... Myoho-Renge-Kyo represents the identity of what some scientists are now referring to as the unified field of consciousnesses. In other words, it’s the essence of all existence and non-existence - the ultimate creative force behind planets, stars, nebulae, people, animals, trees, fish, birds, and all phenomena, manifest or latent. All matter and intelligence are simply waves or ripples manifesting to and from this core source. Consciousness (enlightenment) is itself the actual creator of everything that exists now, ever existed in the past, or will exist in the future - right down to the minutest particles of dust - each being an individual ripple or wave. The big difference between chanting Nam-Myoho-Renge-Kyo and most other conventional prayers is that instead of depending on a ‘middleman’ to connect us to our state of inner enlightenment, we’re able to do it ourselves. That’s because chanting Nam-Myoho-Renge-Kyo allows us to tap directly into our enlightened state by way of this self-produced sound vibration. ‘Who or What Is God?’ If we compare the concept of God being a separate entity that is forever watching down on us, to the teachings of Nichiren, it makes more sense to me that the true omnipotence, omniscience and omnipresence of what most people perceive to be God, is the fantastic state of enlightenment that exists within each of us. Some say that God is an entity that’s beyond physical matter - I think that the vast amount of information continuously being conveyed via electromagnetic waves in today’s world gives us proof of how an invisible state of God could indeed exist. For example, it’s now widely known that specific data relayed by way of electromagnetic waves has the potential to help bring about extraordinary and powerful effects - including an instant global awareness of something or a mass emotional reaction. It’s also common knowledge that these invisible waves can easily be used to detonate a bomb or to enable NASA to control the movements of a robot as far away as the Moon or Mars - none of which is possible without a receiver to decode the information that’s being transmitted. Without the receiver, the data would remain impotent. In a very similar way, we need to have our own ‘receiver’ switched on so that we can activate a clear and precise understanding of our own life, all other life and what everything else in existence is. Chanting Nam-Myoho-Renge-Kyo each day helps us to achieve this because it allows us to reach the core of our enlightenment and keep it switched on. That’s because Myoho-Renge-Kyo represents the identity of what scientists now refer to as the unified field of consciousnesses. To break it down - Myoho represents the Law of manifestation and latency (Nature) and consists of two alternating states. For example, the state of Myo is where everything in life that’s not obvious to us exists - including our stored memories when we’re not thinking about them - our hidden potential and inner emotions whenever they’re dormant - our desires, our fears, our wisdom, happiness, karma - and more importantly, our enlightenment. The other state, ho, is where everything in Life exists whenever it becomes evident to us, such as when a thought pops up from within our memory - whenever we experience or express our emotions - or whenever a good or bad cause manifests as an effect from our karma. When anything becomes apparent, it merely means that it’s come out of the state of Myo (dormancy/latency) and into a state of ho (manifestation). It’s the difference between consciousness and unconsciousness, being awake or asleep, or knowing and not knowing. The second law - Renge - Ren meaning cause and ge meaning effect, governs and controls the functions of Myoho - these two laws of Myoho and Renge, not only function together simultaneously but also underlies all spiritual and physical existence. The final and third part of the tri-combination - Kyo, is the Law that allows Myoho to integrate with Renge - or vice versa. It’s the great, invisible thread of energy that fuses and connects all Life and matter - as well as the past, present and future. It’s also sometimes termed the Universal Law of Communication - perhaps it could even be compared with the string theory that many scientists now suspect exists. Just as the cells in our body, our thoughts, feelings and everything else is continually fluctuating within us - all that exists in the world around us and beyond is also in a constant state of flux - constantly controlled by these three fundamental laws. In fact, more things are going back and forth between the two states of Myo and ho in a single moment than it would ever be possible to calculate or describe. And it doesn’t matter how big or small, famous or trivial anything or anyone may appear to be, everything that’s ever existed in the past, exists now or will exist in the future, exists only because of the workings of the Laws ‘Myoho-Renge-Kyo’ - the basis of the four fundamental forces, and if they didn’t function, neither we nor anything else could go on existing. That’s because all forms of existence, including the seasons, day, night, birth, death and so on, are moving forward in an ongoing flow of continuation - rhythmically reverting back and forth between the two fundamental states of Myo and ho in absolute accordance with Renge - and by way of Kyo. Even stars are dying and being reborn under the workings of what the combination ‘Myoho-Renge-Kyo’ represents. Nam, or Namu - which mean the same thing, are vibrational passwords or keys that allow us to reach deep into our life and fuse with or become one with ‘Myoho-Renge-Kyo’. On a more personal level, nothing ever happens by chance or coincidence, it’s the causes that we’ve made in our past, or are presently making, that determine how these laws function uniquely in each of our lives - as well as the environment from moment to moment. By facing east, in harmony with the direction that the Earth is spinning, and chanting Nam-Myoho-Renge-Kyo for a minimum of, let’s say, ten minutes daily to start with, any of us can experience actual proof of its positive effects in our lives - even if it only makes us feel good on the inside, there will be a definite positive effect. That’s because we’re able to pierce through the thickest layers of our karma and activate our inherent Buddha Nature (our enlightened state). By so doing, we’re then able to bring forth the wisdom and good fortune that we need to challenge, overcome and change our adverse circumstances - turn them into positive ones - or manifest and gain even greater fulfilment in our daily lives from our accumulated good karma. This also allows us to bring forth the wisdom that can free us from the ignorance and stupidity that’s preventing us from accepting and being proud of the person that we indeed are - regardless of our race, colour, gender or sexuality. We’re also able to see and understand our circumstances and the environment far more clearly, as well as attract and connect with any needed external beneficial forces and situations. As I’ve already mentioned, everything is subject to the law of Cause and Effect - the ‘actual-proof-strength’ resulting from chanting Nam-Myoho-Renge-Kyo always depends on our determination, sincerity and dedication. For example, the levels of difference could be compared to making a sound on a piano, creating a melody, producing a great song, and so on. Something else that’s very important to always respect and acknowledge is that the Law (or if you prefer God) is in everyone and everything. NB: There are frightening and disturbing sounds, and there are tranquil and relaxing sounds. It’s the emotional result of any noise or sound that can trigger off a mood or even instantly change one. When chanting Nam-Myoho-Renge-Kyo each day, we are producing a sound vibration that’s the password to our true inner-self - this soon becomes apparent when you start reassessing your views on various things - such as your fears and desires etc. The best way to get the desired result when chanting is not to view things conventionally - rather than reaching out to an external source, we need to reach into our own lives and bring our needs and desires to fruition from within - including the good fortune and strength to achieve any help that we may need. Chanting Nam-Myoho-Renge-Kyo also reaches out externally and draws us towards, or draws towards us, what we need to make us happy from our environment. For example, it helps us to be in the right place at the right time - to make better choices and decisions and so forth. We need to think of it as a seed within us that we’re watering and bringing sunshine to for it to grow, blossom and bring forth fruit or flowers. It’s also important to understand that everything we need in life, including the answer to every question and the potential to achieve every dream, already exists within us.

Many scientists and skeptics have attempted to DISPROVE the existence of Christ and were astonished when they concluded that he did in fact EXIST--no doubt. No one has disproven God. It's impossible. God isn't held by our Earthly laws. He operates outside of those laws. Any knowledge we could could attain by definition can not disprove God because we are mere humans. its because when we read the bible it becomes painfully clear its not devinely inspired but a product of the time. with how much it has wrong. wich would not be the case if it was inspired by an all knowing all powerful God. so because of that they have to edit and use mentall gymnastics to somehow still believe its the word of God. its where cognetive dissonense comes in. ignoring the real world so they can believe fiction.its why so many reject science. but when you ask them about it, they dont even know the science they reject. showing they dont really care about the truth. amd showing they will do anything to keep their faith.

I don't believe in religions. Religion should be singular. Because no one really knows anything! What is important is knowing the gift of being blessed with the divine spirit. Feeling the spirit lives in your heart. Feeling the deep inner love and then knowing you are love and light. That Love and light is our only purpose. Most everyone is disconnected from their hearts and that is sad. Stop conforming and connect with the divine spirit. ASAP Praise Yahweh!

That is what he was teaching through his example. Its only religion that tells us we are less than God. But that's a man made control concept and has nothing to do with what Yeshua was actually teaching us. Men altered the sayings of Yeshua to fit their agendas. Jesus emphasizes that not one lost sheep will be allowed to remain lost, and not one prodigal son will be kept from coming home. What is Jesus saying? God is whole, without separation. Every sheep and prodigal son is part of God. Hence everyone must remember his own godly identity (homecoming). The prodigal son only has to decide to come home when his father notices his homecoming. No need to jump through hoops to earn forgiveness! Luke 15:18-20 New King James Version 18 I will arise and go to my father, and will say to him, “Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you, 19 and I am no longer worthy to be called your son. Make me like one of your hired servants.” ’ 20 “And he arose and came to his father. But when he was still a great way off, his father saw him and had compassion, and ran and fell on his neck and kissed him. 19 October 2023.🐧🍮😇🎯🍁✔🕰🏘💖

God reveals Himself to those He is working with. He cut man off from the Holy Spirit in the beginning when He drove out Adam and Eve from the garden. Watts is a philosopher who grasped for meaning and was never satisfied with what he was able to find. Billions are in the same state. He will be resurrected in the 2nd resurrection when the Holy Spirit will be available to all. “The apostles didn’t quite get the point” but Alan Watts does? That statement reveals his entire philosophy!

No he did not. God tells Moses that he put the spirit on him, and then does so to seventy elders of the Israelites chosen by Moses.

@@LawrenceCaldwellAuthor You are correct. God chooses those He reveals Himself to. Moses was not seeking God. God revealed Himself to Moses.(Exodus 3). God chose the disciples to follow Christ (John 15:16) and God also chooses everyone He brings to Christ(John 6:44). Paul was not seeking God but He chose Paul as well(Acts 9:3-6). The prerogative is never with man, it’s always with God(Jude 1). My comment did need clarification, thanks for pointing that out!

We had the division of Churches at 1009AC so there were no "Catholics" at 380 as the video says. Church was one and Orthodox. It's a nice story behind the chapters that comprise the New Testament. Wish the new year finds all people a peaceful and healthy state

Who wrote the Bible? Do you know?

@@lalouloune6156 Christian theology is limited agnostic. We know only in part. But what we know is necessary and sufficient for know God, self, and world. While Watts is wise, he too is limited. As for who wrote the Bible: we know quite a bit. As for bible writers not knowing other religions like Brahman is just old understandings of the ancients. There was far more cultural exchange in the ancient world that old Alan even doesn’t understand. Yet, in his class who for their first time touched eastern philosophy, thinks it is new insight. All he is saying is of Jesus is looking into the well of history, seeing his own face, and declaring “I see the Truth”

Jesus is a Person, not a religion. Religion is always man made. Jesus said, love God, love others. The Holy Spirit spoke the Bible, and man transcribed it onto paper. God can do stuff like that. We say God doesn't communicate with humanity and when He does, we throw stones. Jesus is the way, truth and life. God loves you. John 3:16.

Ok , got it. Coming to a point of "Cosmic Consciousnesses " means you are at liberty to do anything you want. Hmmm, question: " Since inspiration always comes through a human vehicle it is liable to be distorded by that vehicle" does that inlcude Alan Watts?? Im certain it does.

I would. He was a very entertaining speaker even though it was basically his life-long avocation to just learn and spew absolute mystical nonsense. What could possibly be more meaningless than "I am God"? People are just desperate to hear nonsense like this, that's why there are so many Christians, Muslims, Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, and every other kind of supernatural nonsense that all completely cancel each other out. Spiritual belief is a vestige of our transition to intellect from being animals that will imprison us in this spot until we overcome it. All the great spiritual traditions are thousands of years old, we can't get away from them, they were formed when we knew basically nothing about the world and the universe, and now we are prisoners of them.

Any inkling of "I am God" will always become "I am great and powerful and beyond reproach" (ego) as long as you think that you're the chooser. But you're not the chooser. This is what none of us wants to admit. You don't choose what you prefer, nor what thoughts come into your head, nor how you feel about those thoughts, nor what you'll think of next. As Watts says, "You don't choose your thoughts. You don't choose your feelings." And in conversation with Elliot Mintz he says it plainly: "Neither fate, nor free will." There's no such thing as choice. Yes, we learn. But no, we never escape our conscience, even if it's opaque or wrong, sometimes. We never escape our own judgment. Because there's NO CHOICE. But not just no choice for humans. How would God choose anything? By going "Mmhmm, yes this feels BEST!" But did God choose that thing XYZ to feel best to Him? Or is it just 'best?' See it yet? It doesn't mean there's no meaning. It means there's no choice. So be honest with yourself and your ego. Ego exists but also it doesn't. It's part of the show. Because the secret is that ego = belief in choice. We think we choose and thus we must overly justify our choices, even the wrong ones, to protect that little vulnerable thing we think is 'I' choosing. See that there's no choice. At all. Even in where your eyes move. See that there's no choice, and thus it's not up to you at all if you wake up. See that there's no choice AND YET THERE'S STILL MEANING. This is the opposite of nihilism. This is faith.
