I still believe we should have kept Willy last year. But we signed Cody Zeller, so to put it plainly I don’t trust the pelicans eye for talent at the center position. I have zero confidence that we could let Valanciunas walk and somehow end up with a better player. So now at this point I just want a player who isn’t on his last leg. Trading Brandon Ingram after he averaged the lowest points average since his rookie year is almost guaranteed to not get the max value for him. The urgency to trade BI should have been the year where he was averaging 24 had the pelicans in the playoffs. That’s when we should have traded him, but now??? It makes no sense, he’s not looked at as a superstar player even tho he’s still the same player who averaged 24 a season ago. BI IS A BETTER PLAYER THAN JARRETT ALLEN. If we make that trade I assure you Cleveland would be top 5 seed. And if(when) Zion gets hurt, we will look foolish af when we are struggling to make the play in AGAIN…

Well Washington could have sent a player, draft picks or money, the pelicans wanted money back so Washington gave up the bulls second round pick and 9 million in cash if they didn’t send the draft pick well they had to send a player or cash they also did a sign and trade for Cody to Atalanta with the Murray deal seems like they want to be under cap which is why they keep freeing up money

Question---what happens if somehow some team loses it's first round pick (penalty, etc.) and the Bulls seconds round pick happens to be pick #30. Do the Pels in that situation get that pick since it is protected 31-50??

No second rounders won't move up in draft order. Say 30 was forfeited, it won't adjust the numerical order

If teams are unwilling to value Brandon Ingram at $200 mil, what’s the urgency to trade him or award him an extension? Just let Ingram play out his contract for the season or trade him at the trade deadline and move forward. I don’t understand the thirst for a transaction.

Unfortunately I do think we will trade BI fro a starting center. It might not be till the trade deadline though. If you look at CLE it seems like they want to see how the coaching change works before moving off of Allen. I don’t see another starting center we want in a package for BI currently available for trade. We could use a trade exception to get a cheaper 5 then make a bigger move at the deadline

This is too much money for someone who will be the 3rd option and was benched at the end of games by MN in the playoffs

I'm still looking and waiting for that upgrade of JV at Center. There were only a handful of centers that played better than Jonas, and all of them were All-stars. Don't double down on a bad decision by trading BI for less, just to fill the gap. In reality it should be easier to trade CJ than BI. CJ has all of the advantages that BI doesn't. CJ is more willing to shoot the trey, and CJ has a longer, de-escalating contract than Brandon. He's not a short term rental. I would trade CJ for Ben Simmons in a heartbeat!

It's not that they had to sign a FA center, it's that they let their FA options dwindle and now having to try and trade for a viable center. Drummond, Goga, Bamba, and Plumlee have starting experience. No one knows if Missi can be a NBA backup right now.
