Thank you for making butterflies so much easier to understand and trade through these videos. I think I found them when you mentioned them on ST chat, glad I did as they are much more specific and focused than you have time for on the options room mic with chat, questions and trades.

That is very helpful feedback! I'm glad you're enjoying the videos. I will keep making them. The other thing about the trading room is that I rarely close the trades during my session because I close them at the most opportune time. With these videos, I make them when I actually close the trade.

Hi Danielle - can you please share your TDA chart layout setup? i.e. how can we have the same chart layout as yours? And how do we get "ST_SqueezePRO" indicator? Thanks!
@traderdanielle10 ай бұрын
I will make a video about my grid and share it. The squeeze pro is a paid tool that you can get through the Simpler Trading store, but there is a free version in ThinkorSwim called the TTM squeeze. It's under John Carter studies.

Great job, but my uncle Warren says I should stick with something thar i can easily describe to an orangutan, like buying stocks. I've sold covered calls and always hated it, and the only time i ever made a killing buying Leaps was with some major unexpected news that broke with 10 months left on the call, and i made like $1200 on something i paid around $135 for..... I listened to the late George Fontanils and his optionetics and never made much at all.... in fact traders say he never made a dime in real trading, even though he could teach well. I'm looking to step things up somehow though, i'm gonna keep watching you, thanks for the video!

did you sell it or buy the butterfly?
@michaelclancy787410 ай бұрын
? about TOS. In my setup butterfly positions show each position, not my trade price I bought the whole position at. Is there a way to display the price? Also, I had an spx butterfly that I let go to cash settle. The postion is gone this am, but I have no way to see what I made on it. It was showing $450 at the close. Do they post option exercises? Thank you for sharing your knowledge.

To fix this, when you're looking at the position, look at the top of the divider bar that divides your position from the options chain. There are three lines for a menu bar. Click on that, then click 'arrange positions.' you can click the different options to see which format you like best. It should put the trade together as a butterfly. For the SPX trade, you look at the closing price and you can manually value what the option was worth. Add whatever the long options were worth and subtract what the short options were worth. The ITM option should be equal to how in the money it was because the extrinsic value is gone. I.e. if you had the 5250 call and the SPX closed at 5257, that option is worth $7. But if you were short the 5255 then that one is -2 (times 2). The third option was likely out of the money and worthless. The easier way to do it is to message ThinkorSwim support and ask them 😁 and they will write it all out for you.

Strategies are great but finding that getting into long butterflies and debit spreads is easy, but closing them even when in the money is almost impossible. Keep lowering below mid and still no fills. Positions are just stuck. Appreciate any advice.
@traderdanielle3 ай бұрын
@@sidneyestreicher2770 Which tickers and expiration series are they? I don't have issues unless it's the 0 DTE SPX right at the end of the day. The best way to avoid issues is by trading strikes that have a tight spread to begin with, along with sufficient volume and open interest. I generally trade the Mag 7. Anything illiquid and you will definitely have these issues.

Hi Danielle, Is this Butterfly a Net Debit - Long Call Butterfly or a Short Call Butterfly. Never really traded butterflies before. Thanks so much.
@lecanoli302910 ай бұрын
Those are Long Call butterflies. Pretty simple setup. $5 dollars wide, since she paid $100, the max profit is $400 per Bfly.
