I am also a great fan of engulfing patterns. I experience the bullish engulfing work great only after a considerable fall in the prices and the price action is consolidating, its time to enter a bullish engulfing as it gives great risk to reward trades. The opposite is true for Bearing Engulfing. As the author says, it is really easy to spot and trade which prompted me to like this video. The explanation was really up to the point and no redundant words to confuse. I like this video.

I think most that say "I love this!" Never did a trade in their life. While this strategy might work fine when you see a very clear signal, it won't work on some very important moments. If trading was this simple, everyone would be a trader. I would not use this strategy alone...

Sorry I'm a bit confused. At 2:25 you say the engulfing candlestick that is at the end of the uptrend is considered a bearish correct? When a similar pattern at 5:11 is taking place you say the engulfing candle at the end of the uptrend is considered a bullish candle this time? How so? Not sure if it was a mistake, or I missed something. I am also confused because I thought red candles meant bearish and green meant bullish? Am I wrong there too? Hope to hear back from you, you are one of my favorite trading channels! Thanks!

I am learning a great deal from your videos. I'd be interested to hear your comments about your personal favorite time frames per instrument. I mostly trade NatGas ETFs, Gold Miner ETFs and TQQQ - SQQQ. Am finding intraday a lot more challenging than swing trades averaging 10 day holds. My risk on the 10 day holds is greater than i would like because of the overnight gaps. Keep up the good work. And a big thank you!
@davidjones24527 жыл бұрын
Hi Steve. Thanks for the question. I would agree with you on the intraday trading - everyone wants to do it, it's very exciting but definitely harder than trying to trade bigger swing moves. I trade the S&P and individual US shares and clearly, with the market how it has been, a much less intensive approach. I have trades that can run for weeks. There is the risk of the gap you are right, but for me this is outweighed by the fact it is a more "relaxed" way of trading rather than watching everything all day long.

Hi Ash, every candle displays the price movement direction (increase or decrease) for a certain time interval. The trend consists of a number of candles and shows the price direction for a bigger time frame. That is why you may spot green candles in a downward trend and vise versa. question, i am new to stocks and would like to learn, can a bullish candle also be (green) to the left larger than (red) to the right, and can bearish also be (green) to the left, but smaller than the (red) to the right? and vice versa? like red to the left smaller than green to the right would be bullish, would red to the left but larger than green to the right be bearish?
@jameslayne29852 жыл бұрын
I completely get the bearish candle engulfing a green candle at the peak of an uptrend or a bullish candle engulfing a bearish candle at the end of a downtrend. But what about when you've had a pretty extended downtrend, you have a bullish candle and then an engulfing bearish candle following it? For instance, Nvidia today (4/12/22) and yesterday (4/11/22). Is the upward price action above yesterday's action significant as a reversal pattern even though the close was lower? Or is it a sign of a bearish continuance?
@ashleyklein88956 жыл бұрын
excellent presentation
@MP-yj5iu7 жыл бұрын
Nice explaination, the open and the close of the engulfing candle is not necessary to always cover the previous candle but only the body should be larger than the previous candle that is what you mean to say ??
@Trading2127 жыл бұрын
The theory states that the body of the engulfing candle should cover the body of the previous candle.

Another great video! One question I have is how do you know over what time frame to trade? Is it mainly just down to what you are wanting to get from it? I assume shorter time frames leads to smaller rewards and losses and vice versa with longer timeframes? thanks!
@Trading2126 жыл бұрын
Hi Callum, it depends on your trading style, goals and preferences. Generally, it is considered that bigger time frames on the chart provide more reliable trading signals.

I want to clarify that the key to change in direction is engulfing the whole body of the candle (ie. Open and close equal or higher to the previous candle in opposite direction)? Or also the high and low should be covered too? Thanks.

Thanks for your content. One thing i'm confused with is that When you look at different time scales on the chart you see different candlestick formations, for example you can identify "Engulfing Candlestick chary pattern" on a 1 day chart time scale but when you switch to let's say 10 minutes time frame you can't see that chart pattern. is this candlestick chart pattern still a valid pattern?
