Today I'm getting my hair braided by my friend, LA braider, Saniyyah Sahar. She's going to do the knotless technique which is much better for my hair.

This is going to get kind of deep, but I need to say this. I was always jealous of girls with curly hair, because I saw it and still see it as so beautiful. So when I learned that haircare for curly hair was just so damaging, I couldn’t believe it. How could they let beautiful curls just be destroyed? It blew my mind. After watching your videos, I came to really appreciate curly hair as more. It is some complex, so beautiful, and I have made notes for hair care. I don’t know if I will have mixed children, or foster children with curly hair. But at the end of the day, you have taught me that all hair is good hair, and all hair should be treated the with the same amazing care! Thank you. ❤️

Amanda McLellan great comment. Once I learned how to manage my hair, learned what’s in my lane, I fell in love with my hair. I think curly hair is just promoted so much that it makes people feel like their hair is pointless if it’s not curly. I know a Mexican boy that admitted to me that he wished he had hair like mine because his is straight. I felt a sense of compassion and just told him that all hair is good hair. Right now curly is just in fashion and maybe down the line straight will become the next best thing. We just have to love our hair beyond what’s trending while learning how to manage it and stay in our lane.

First of all there is many people with curly hair that don't embrace it, so people promote curly hair to make them feel better about themselves, it has no nothing to do with people with straight hair. Yeah, I’m white with wavy hair and when I was first exposed to this practice, I thought it was cool too. It’s common practice for people with very curly hair since their natural hair is so difficult to tend to and get long, so they add in extra hair to make it longer. It’s basically the same as extensions Edit: I was referring to protective styles through the “common practice”, and “difficult to tend to” refers to the many hours and products that are sometimes used to strengthen curls. Not everyone might, but a straight haired person can just wake up and go with no detangling, but someone with natural hair might want to prep their hair before they go out. Just different cultural norms. I was wrong with the “it’s difficult to get long”, hair is hair, it’s grows at various rates. But I believe I was connecting that to the “it’s labor-intensive to take care of” and therefore, more hair = more time.

@@skylarlily6289 It's sad that people have come to that conclusion. I can remember a time when white people wore corn rows and women and men of color used to straighten their hair because we celebrated and admired each other's culture and style. It used to be a compliment if a white person wore a dashiki. It expressed their love of someone else's culture and nothing more. Sad that we cannot understand this without getting upset. This comes from a place of admiration so I hope no one takes offense. I really am impressed with this beautiful hair style.

Looks gorgeous! For me, I've found that the feed ins are easier to install and lasts longer than the knotted version. And that's me doing it myself. My head felt lighter and easier to style, even though braided to my butt. No pulling on my roots. They will be my go to during the winter.

I’m the only one in my family with curly hair, and I’ve had to figure everything out on my own. I’m still learning but I’m glad I have resources to help me learn more about my hair. Even if the girl in this video doesn’t have my hair type, it’s still fun to watch girls with any curl type. I relate to them :)

same! I don't know how I got my curls but I have them😆 I have a really weird combination. Like I have really small but long curls... also my hair is soooo thin and I Don't have much hair! I didn't know I had curls until I was 14! Until then I always straighten it because I thought I just had alot of frizzy hair ya know? and Then I saw a girl that was transitioning and I was like 'huh' so My hair looked exactly the same before she transitioned! So then I only used shamppo and conditioner and I scrunched with a cotton shirt (I didn't know about the cg method or the 'no sulfates, silicones' thingy but I just saw them scrunching so I was like I'll give it a try) and then I saw my hair curly for the first time! ofcourse I had alot of heat damage and my curls weren't looking good and now after a year I'm still struggling to be honest! I don't have alot of money and when I finnaly have enough money for a mask or somethinh then my shampoo is empty ya know? so I feel like until I have work i'm just doing my hair wrong... the products that I do use are cg friendly! and I'm proud to say that I haven't used heat on my hair for a year and always wore it naturally! it's a pretty hard challenge since in my family we don't have curls and I don't know anyone personally with curls either... also people look at me weirdly in school because of my curly hair... (I think I have a mix from 2 to type 3 hair since im still transitioning) no one in my school or village has curly hair but to be honest.. I FREAKING LOVE MY CURLS! I feel like myself and idc about what the people around me think.. they should be jealous of our curls😉 I'm sorry if i made some grammer mistakes but I find English a pretty difficult language...
