Did you see the Colombian delicacy I was served because I was a special guest?
After my special treat, I tried my first Sancocho in Medellin at the San Joaquin Restaurant in Laureles. For those who don’t know Sancocho is a traditional food in Colombia made with many kinds of meat, the one I had was beef, with large pieces of plantain, potato or yuca, and/or other vegetables, depending on the region. It is also served with a side of sliced avocado and a plate of white rice, which is usually dipped in with each spoonful of soup. It was delicious!
How did I do on my first Sancocho experience?
02:08 - My special Colombian cookie is served
05:11 - My Sancocho arrives
07:25 - I’m shown how to properly eat Sancocho
08:15 - Dessert Time: Arroz con Leche
09:44 - An important safety lesson
