Only parts of the dance are traditional (basically the moments where people hold each other's hand), the rest are contemporary innovations for dance festivals and contests.

Thanks for that info. I suspect that is the case for most traditional dancing around the world nowadays...

@@growingglobalcitizens Afaik, in Brittany, Ireland and Scotland (the countries I best know), most of the time people don't modify the traditional dances.

We aren't in Europe but almost all Turkish traditional dances are still alive in Turkey.We always play our traditional dances at our weddings,we keep them alive in many places in normal life,too.It is very nice that Bretons keep their traditions alive.Cultural diversity is a wonderful thing,they are all special.I hope this diversity continue to exist.

@@Ruby-pp8lc In Brittany, most people don't care much about the local culture, language, dances etc, and don't know much about it. Older people and a minority of younger people do know about all that, but the others are culturally "French". But everything has been done (by the governments since 1789 and even more since the 1870s) to make our culture disappear.

@@gerald4013 oh gosh I don’t know why, why they would want to do such a thing I just came to this video because I wanted to see traditional dancing from all over the world so I wanted to see France’s / french traditional dancing.

French government likes so much so kind of Folklore; meanwhile Bretons doesn't think about struggling for Homerule and the Breton celtic language is slowly but surely wiped out of Brittany. You know, in jacobine France there is only One People, One language (french), One Nation !!!

It should be titled "Traditional Dance in Brittany". Full stop. Not "Brittany, France". It's Brittany, not France and people should say things like that more and on mass so it stays in the conscious of more and more people and maybe things change more.

@@newone1227 No, its not. Haha Are you remotely informed at all? Breton is a completely different language and culture altogether from French and the rest of France, Texas is just Texas with immigrants from other countries, Mexicans and white settlers, NOT THE SAME!!!
@caveman385 Жыл бұрын
@@newone1227 They speak Breton in Brittany, its actually a region tantamount to a nation with its own culture and language. Yeah, uts with in France but it it has its own people and language, Texans are just a big bunch of American immigrants over hundreds of years. Bretons are real, Texas isn't really a unique place or peoples and doesn't have its own language.
