Man, I cannot tell you how illuminating this was. You are right, I have never seen anyone explain the alternating finger vs. thumb action. You throw in a little mini Moeller whip and Wow! Thanks so much, changed my game.

This is great and I really can’t thank you enough for sharing! I’ve been trying to figure this technique out for years. I’ve wanted to add this technique to my bag ever since I saw Tommy Igoe use it in GE 1. I could get this down until the explanation in your series. Thank you so much again! You sir, deserve a medal 🥇

I never would have thought someone remembering the Bridgemen from Bayonne, NJ. You definitely know what it's about.

The Brigdemen are fantastic. Heck all those corps from the late 70's and 80's were great.

Yea they were. Phantom Regiment,Crossman, who wanted me on the snare line in 81'. Spirit of Atlanta,Santa Clara,Blue Devils who kills in GE and Execution.

@@keithbrooks982Man that's awesome Keith. I marched with the Jersey Surf snare line for a short period of time but didn't stay on for financial reasons. Other than that I only marched in Highschool and 2 years in College. Though I'm primarily a drum set player now most of my back ground is rudimental snare drumming. So it holds a special place in my heart. :)

I play traditional grip, and your videos are quite helpful, but how in the world do you manage to keep the stick from sliding in your hand while performing the exercises?!?
@adventuresingaming8644 жыл бұрын
Hey Charles, thanks for the question. Well to put it simply...balance. Make sure the angle of the stick to the head is parallel. That's important. Also make sure that the fulcrum is exactly 3/4 of the way from the tip to the butt end. From there is just about repetition until the muscle memory kicks in. I can be frustrating at first. Don't give up.

Hi I’m new to traditional grip . Which technique is best for double stroke rolls and which for fast single stroke rolls ?
@ChuckBarchuk10 ай бұрын
Hello! There isn't a best way. Think of traditional grip like a swiss army knife. It's full of options. My recommendation is always to experiment. But that being I personally use almost all thumb for singles and index finger for doubles.

I wonder why this technique isn’t being used on the hi-hat with the right hand. I struggle to get a fast continues roll on the hats.
@ChuckBarchuk5 жыл бұрын
Well I do switch fingers on the right hand as well though it isn't as obvious. Just remember these only tools and options. Use as much or little as you see fit.
@vernonfreeman66398 жыл бұрын
on the bottom part of the video, it is completely blocked out. I can only see half of the top.
@ChuckBarchuk8 жыл бұрын
That is odd. Yea I just watched it and had my wife watch it from her work and she didn't noticed any problems. I'll ask a few other friends to look as well. Thanks.

...These are really well explained videos here but, gosh, ain't this finger coordination with the left hand humbling! I can get a couple of these dribbling excercises going, but stick-creep seems to derail me using just the index finger (when the thumb is pointed up). Roll my hand over so index is on top seems a lot easier. Ok, enough messaging, back to the woodshed...
@ChuckBarchuk7 жыл бұрын
I agree Pete, it's pretty ridiculous. I recommend to just go with the variation that seems the most natural and efficient for you. Cheers!

Are you saying the video only plays up to half way through? I just watched myself and didn't have any issues. Everything is marked as public. So I'm not sure. I apologize for that.
