I was just assigned with learning to perform this music by my professor who studied under Bernard, Mark Stone. I am blown away at the complexity and sound of Bine, hope to find more gems like this on KZbin. Also, if Mark sees this, hello

I'm only disappointed that i can't really hear the music as there is not much balance in the recording. (Not meaning to critcise). Somebody needs to make another recording under more controlled circumstances. It's worth it.

Bernard Woma has recorded several albums of bine music! Certainly worth checking out if possible!

This video illustrates the challenges of recording live traditional African music in the field. When Balsab performs the hard-stick accompaniment, it is so loud that it mostly drowns out Woma's gyil. If you are going to record like this in Africa, get some training, experience, and appropriate equipment! The nature of the instruments, the playing styles, and the live conditions make this music exceptionally difficult to record well. Nice video otherwise though.
