I was excited to see the Hohner button accordion; my father played that exact same one all his life. It sits on my self because no one in the family plays accordion anymore.

reminds me of the jam session we used to have at the feed store on Saturday nights in small town Texas.....folks show up, sit down on a stack of feed sacks, open up their case, tune a bit, and jump in.....best music in the world, played for the joy of the music and the companion beside you....learned my best licks at those jams...

Pretty much in the old days every member of a family would play at least one instrument or at least sing. It is still common all over the country. I have been all around Ireland both the Republic and Northern Ireland. Most tourists do not go to Northern Ireland. If you go, there are good backpacker Hostels near Queens University (you do not need to actually be a hiker to stay in these hostels.) They are affordable and you can cook in the kitchen to save $$$ Visit Kelly's Cellars in Belfast near the clock tower in a small lane. Best wishes!
