I was stationed in Korea 55 years ago at Camp Kaiser a few klicks from the DMZ. Watching this clip of the countryside I am amazed by all the trees covering the hills and mountainsides. There were few if any trees in South Korea in 1967 ... still too soon after the War. There were no paved roads north of Seoul and only huts made of mud and thatch with no plumbing or very little electricity. Korea was truly a third world country then. But no longer. What a beautiful, lush country it is today. I would love to return and visit.

There are only elderly people who live mainly in rural Korea. Most of the old houses in the video seem to be uninhabited. There are many abandoned houses in the countryside of Korea

It's hard to say it's a small land. It just looks relatively small because of China, Mongolia, Japan and Russia next to it And Korea's population continues to shrink. Korea has the lowest birth rate in the world. In the countryside of Korea, only the elderly live. Among the houses shown in this video, the old houses appear to be houses that are only inhabited by the elderly or abandoned. The countryside of Korea has too little population.
